Selling an iPad "activated?"

I listed my iPad on Craigslist and I have an interested seller, but he asked if I could sell it activated, as he doesn't have access to iTunes on his corporate laptop. This struck me as odd. Is there any security reasons for me NOT to do this? I know I can wipe everything and sign out of my iTunes store account, but is there any residual information left anywhere else?

Well, you could always make a new user and sync it to a completely fresh iTunes account, but I would think this would make his life complicated. Can you change the credit card info from the iPad itself? I don't even know.
I've found that trying to do anything but do the bulk of your management from iTunes is asking for a world of hurt. My boss is always asking for help with his iPad (which he never syncs and is set to manual) and it's a mess. He's got all sorts of stuff on there that isn't in his iTunes library and doesn't want to sync back. I just don't want to mess stuff up.

I'm not buying this. He must have a computer at home or somewhere where he can set up the iPad with iTunes. I would not sell an iDevice with anything of mine on it. There are plenty of other people willing to buy who have a computer with iTunes.

I've run across IT depts that ban iTunes, and most any other "non-essential" software on the company gear.
How does the buyer intend to sync or backup the iPad without iTunes? I wouldn't sell it if there was any chance in hell the buyer could access the seller's iTunes account. That just doesn't sound smart.

Agreed. Tell him it will only be sold in a restored state equivalent to the way he would get it out of the box. Create a new account and use it to restore the iPad.

he can take it to any Apple Store and they will activate it for him there. I've had other family members do this.

The other fishy thing in this whole deal is that there's someone who wants to buy an iPad1 at this date.
Too good to be true!
Unless he/she figured out that there's no other way to get unlimited 3G at a fair price.

I would do a complete reset and send it to him/her and let them find a way to activate it. I am sure the person can find some in this world with iTunes that will let them activate the device.

I got fed up with all the nonsense on Craigslist and just sold it to Gazelle. They offered $300, so I'll take the loss and just be done with it.
