On Jan 1st. I posted a message asking for help in restoring privileges to my Users Folder.
The suggestion offered on the MacNN forum was tried without success, as was a method detailed on MacInTouch.
I am using a Cube, running OSX 10.4.11, Apple Mail & Safari. This machine is only used for internet access.
Have any of your expert contributors suggestions as to how I can recover the files from the User Folder? I would like to recover E-mail addresses, mail boxes and contents, Safari bookmarks, and last but not least, Address Book data.
Needless to say I am now very diligent about backing-up!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Hugh W.

More specifics needed. Are you saying you can't access the /Users folder itself... or do you mean you can't access a particular folder inside that... such as /Users/hugh... or do you mean you can't access a particular folder below /Users/hugh... such as /Users/hugh/Documents. Use pathnames and paint the picture so that we can actually visualize it.

What access *do* you have? Are there two (or more) user accounts on this Cube... or are you using another Mac over FireWire or Ethernet... or how?

PS: you probably should have just continued your <first thread> instead of starting a new one. [edit: also, the old thread was in Mac OSX where this topic probably belongs... not Applications.]
