I just had a revelation...
What if they call it...
Wait for it... wait for it...
the...
iBook
It sounds stupid at first, but maybe it all makes sense. Maybe they dumped the iBook name years ago so they could have it for something like this. A product that fits the name better then a laptop does.
They could even say that it's a reinvention of the old iBook. A lower end and more affordable (and approachable) portable computer to squeek in under the MacBook.

You just had that revelation? People have been floating that name for a week or two now (not that I feel like digging around for the source). I can see the appeal, but I hope they don’t use it. There were a lot of great iBook models and I think the name deserves to not be diluted.
Has Apple reused any of its trademarks, other than “SuperDrive” (first, high-density 3.5-inch floppy drives; later, DVD burners)?

I think they should call it iBook. I have been saying that all along. But they probably don't want people to think of it as just an eReader, so maybe they will drop the book for something else.
Another candidate is iPad. They would not call it iSlate. That just sounds horrible.
iPad has grounding. First, remember the Newton MessagePad? Well, they could modernize MessagePad > iPad. That makes sense. Second, iPad is more of a robust name, it implies a device capable of many things, not just reading a book.
My bet is for iPad.

I haven't heard the iBook moniker floated around before, but I'm not so sure it would adequately describe the product.
Nobody associates video and audio with books.
iBook just sounds like another e-reader.

I don't think they've made a new iName since iPhone. Don't know if that means they're finally getting sick of them too, or if they're reserved for really big things.

“iPhone” actually sounds good, though. Unlike any of the iNames I’ve heard floated for this thing. Of course, like I’ve probably said a zillion times in these forums, I used to hate the sound of “MacBook [Pro]”, and it doesn’t bother me anymore.
At any rate, I think “iWork” was the last new iName before “iPhone”, and that appeared in 2005. If so, they’ve slowed down more since then: 3 years without a new iName. And again, that could go with either theory: they’re getting bored with them, or they’re just saving them for the important products to avoid dilution.

I'm with you on the MacBook name.
But regarding actual hardware, what was the last thing to get the "i" moniker before the iPhone?

Obviously this isn't real but it's well done and disturbingly what would be the most givingist away part if it was real is the terrible Apple grammar mangling at the end. Remember the funnest iPod ever?

Wirelessly stream video from a computer or Apple TV. Can run any iPhone app. New apps can take advantage of the bigger screen. New focus on portable games.
64 or 128 gigs of built in memory. No camera. 7 hours of battery life. Can be paired with an AT&T contract to get 3G on the go. Can be paired with a bluetooth keyboard that will be sold separately. No USB ports. Only connectivity is through a standard iPod dock connector. Will have a built-in pull out stand so you can set it on a desk and watch movies.
$700 for 64, $900 for 128
I think this is a pretty "safe" guess.

I was wrong about the price, anyway. A lot cheaper than I thought. However, I figured it'd just be an extra big iPod.

I was right on many accounts and wrong on a few others. I said polycarbonate, it has aluminum. I got the name right. The price point close for the top model. The screen close. The screen correct. The battery life real-life is probably spot on 6 hours. 3G correct. Bluetooth/wifi correct. Rounded back correct. Custom multi-touch interface correct. Camera wrong.
When is the judgement coming in?

I just reread mine and I did fairly decently. I was really trying to wish the all-over multitouch into existence. And I meant Home button, not power button, on the front like the iPhone.
I don’t think anyone would have guessed at 6 separate SKUs. 2 storage capacities at launch seemed so obvious.
I’m pretty shocked by the availability of a keyboard dock & BT keyboard support. I bolded my “no external keyboard” prediction, so I must’ve been pretty sure about that. I think it went hand in hand with the expectation that they’d come up with a text input method that was drastically different from enlarged iPhone keyboard. If text input had been revolutionary, they might have prevented hardware keyboards for a while, to send the message, “Trust us, you’ll get used to this”. I hope some of the big name reviewers get to try these out for a few days soon, to let us know how the keyboard goes.

It will have a "high" price, but it will be a bargain compared to the alternatives.
Not sure where to put this prediction. I'll call it a draw because it is cheap and expensive (especially the 3G 64GB plus data plan). +0
Netbook (surf and Email): $300
PSP (games): $150
Kindle Dx (eReader): $480
iPod (music and video): $150
That's $1080 right there. If Apple targets $599 as a price point, you save $480.
Although i didn't expect an iPod Touch XL, the last part was correct (the prices). +1
In addition, it will likely be capable of things we don't even know we need to do or never thought we needed a device that could do it. The problem is my brain cannot comprehend what that will be or how it will be done. It could possibly offer up a way of doing something so easy that we can no longer live without it.
iWork was kind of expected, but there was no surprising or killer app. I think most can live without it. Split. +0
1 Right, 2 Split, 1 Wrong. So really 50%. Likely no better than the typical pundit.
I feel like Eric Cartman in that I want to just freeze myself until it comes out. I'm tired of waiting and tired of the c*ck-teasing rumors that have no substantiation.

I have to disagree with your marking the "enhanced iPhone OS" as wrong. That's all the damn thing is.
Otherwise, under your grading I did slightly better than I thought.

Based on what I saw in the keynote, I find nothing enhanced about the OS at all. The rest of it is just updated bundled apps. Even Apple only bumped the OS number from 3.1.2 to 3.2 which was required anyway to support the new hardware.
OS4, whenever it comes out, will likely be enhanced.
I should have put more specs down, but I suspect that i would have ended up near the 50% range anyway. I was surprised it had no camera.
