I'll admit it before anyone else says it: I'm shallow. I came across an alternate set of folder icons that were in an earlier build of Leopard, which can be seen in this image:

What I want to know is, what the hell happened to them? I really rather like them, and I really wish I could use them in Leopard. Unfortunately, I haven't found the option to change to using them, which leads me to believe they were removed from the final build.

Any ideas why?

Yeah, they are pretty cool, aren't they? I can't remember where I came across them, or when, but it was on my travels around the interweb a while back. It's a real shame that they took them out of the final build.

Ah. This I like. Thanks for pointing this out to me. I might try to change my folders using these icons. The only downside is that they're 128px in size, instead of the new jumbo 512 icons.

I agree, they look pretty cool! Apple should have offered an option to use these as an alternative to the blue ones.

You're joking right? Apple and options don't go together.... Steve knows what's best for all of us.

I actually think these icons look rather boring and remind me of my high school days for some reason. Although it would've been nice for them to simply add an option to switch between the Leopard icons now and these Manilla icons. I must say that I am happy with the final icon set that they went with.
