If you need to free up a lot of space the easiest way to get it back is to erase and install OSX. During the install process the assistant will give you the option to omit installing the foreign languages and the fonts and select printer drivers. You can fish through certain parts of OSX and free up HD space but it's really not easy or effective for what you are trying to do.

Delocalizer for language packs. Search and destroy readme, eulas, legal and help packs. Deleting games will help. Do you have an external or iPod? Moving stuff over is also handy. If you have an iPod, could try moving the music to an external and manually managing your stuff.
Burn apps you don't need or don't use much to a DVD if no external. iDVD is a good example of a space hog. Garageband can also be pared down.
If you don't use Classic, delete that.

But look into an external. Space is cheap these days.

If you wanna get rid of additional languages, try Multilingual
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one
pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid across the line broadside,
thoroughly used up, worn out, leaking oil, shouting GERONIMO!"

thanks for the suggestions guys! I currently own a 20gb ipod, soo i guess i'll just move my music and word docs into there. Other than that ill try to see if i can get some languages off, without having to reinstall the entire os.

Yeah, what's the best way to delete Classic?
How much space are we saving by doing that?

If you don't install printer drivers, you save a massive 3.1 GB. That's All I know.

back up what you need and do the custom reinstall, as already mentioned. i dropped about 5 or 6gb off the factory install like this, and i kept all the printer drivers (just in case you know). this is the best way for sure.

iLife is also massive, so if you don't use that, you can shed another 4GB or so.

Find the folder called "System Folder" note: NOT SYSTEM, but System Folder and delete it. Done.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Be careful when moving stuff to the iPod, you never know when you may drop it/spill stuff on it. Always back stuff up onto cd/dvd as often as you find neccessary (or online, on anything that you don't walk around with)

I found a folder called ' Desktop Mac (OS 9) ' what about that one?

sorry..not to be one of those annoying people that ask way too many questions!
