Well, I bought an item on ebay, using paypal, and the seller told me that said item was going to ship ASAP. Now it's been 2 weeks and the guy is no longer responding to any messages or emails. Just seems odd to me since he has >99% positive feedback with almost 200 sales. I guess I'll have to go through all the BS with paypal to get my money back ($150), which will likely take more effort and time than it's worth.
I guess I've been lucky, I've bought hundreds of things and not been burned (even buying from people with single digit feedback). Was bound to happen, I suppose.
Who else has been screwed on ebay?

Maybe, but other sales that completed after mine have already been shipped out and people have posted feedback. Not sure what's going on.

I'd leave very negative feedback and then change it later if he comes through (if ebay lets you do that).
Also, I've never been burned, but I've only purchased maybe 3 items, tops, from there.

No, I didn’t think eBay allowed those kinds of offers.

Not been burned by sellers, but have been burned by buyers!
Sold an iBook a fe years ago now, used but perfect condition, with Applecare left on it... the person said it never arrived. I provided the UPS signature to them. They then claimed it was damaged in the mail. Until they let slip they were typing the email on it. Then the HD allegedly made funny noises... they asked to keep that one; and for me to give them their money back, or buy then a new one in compensation!
After 2 months of emails from them, all probably typed on the machine I sold them, it got a little wearing...

been nearly burned buy and selling. I bought an old mac plus for nostalgia and it arrived with the screen broken/shattered due to lousy packaging. He gave me a real hard time about it but eventually agreed to exchange it. Fortunately the replacement was well protected, otherwise we would have locked horns.
Years ago I was selling something, don't even remember what, and the person who won claimed their kid bought it without asking. I was nice and let them off the hook. someone who didn't win offered to buy it for the winning bid, so it was good.

My Dad got screwed about a month ago; one his buyers went off his meds and left 8 negatives in a row. Later he apologized but eBay wont reverse the negatives.

Why not use the "take back function" in feedback where buyer and seller agree that the negative feedback was wrong?

I haven't used eBay in years but I used to buy a lot from there and have only had issue. A game I bought ($15 or so) never arrived even though the seller said he shipped it.

I haven't used ebay in years, but recently started up again for cheap electronics components. Never been screwed over in any way, thankfully. Not that I would tolerate that sort of behavior, and would therefore lay ruin the earth beneath the seller's feet.

I filed a dispute and that seems to have gotten the guy's attention, the item is now on it's way. I'm still not sure what happened, but I think the guy was just pissed because I bought the thing for $150 and it was easily worth over twice as much.
