Mac pro with 9800 GTX

Hi i have read on other forums and i need someone to 100% confirm. if i boot in to vista on my mac pro could i put in any video card and it will work? lets say i install the 9800GTX and remove the mac graphics card will that work on vista? i know it won't work on mac osx.

I don't even think you have to remove the original card, the Windows card will just be ignored by the Mac, but will work in Windows (and possibly Linux, if that's your jam).

So will the video card work for 1st generation mac pro? if i get the yes i will order it right now

It will work in any Mac Pro providing your power supply is 1000 watts.
I have heard you have to keep the default Mac OS X graphics card installed all the time and use the secondary PCI Express slot for the Windows graphics card. I think this is because the OS chooser only recognises the Mac card. Someone correct this if it is wrong.

ok thats fine i have just orderd the 9800 GTX which will be ariving tommorow. i was wondering how will i plug the power in to the graphics card as i have opened my mac pro and i don't see no power leeds hanging around

You'll need to buy a splitter in that case.

ok but if i get a spilitter where do i connect that too? one end on graphics card the other end? i can't get to the powersupply

It's a standard molex power plug, right? You'd use a splitter/extension off of the optical drive power cable.

ok thank you and just one last thing. does any windows Sata II hard drive work for the mac pro? or does it have to be for the mac

osx will recognise any sata II hard drive

There's no such thing as a "windows hard drive".
