Why is it that when I print out an image in Photoshop Pantone, it does not match Illustrator's same Pantone? I am trying for Pantone 2945 CVC.

Change the document's mode to Multichannel and save as a Photoshop DCS EPS.

when i try placing the DCS .eps into illustrator, it says:

DCS EPS files cannot be opened or placed. Please try placing the file linked.

so ok, i guess i will have to link the file. will this be a problem when i send this package to the printers?

additionally, when i place the file linked, it states that:

Linked EPS files may not print accurately when the document also contains transparency. For accurate results, embed the linked file before printing.

How do I embed?

Don't embed. As in Quark, a placed linked image is just a place holder. Include the original linked file as you would fonts when you send the Illustrator EPS file to the printer. If the linked file is a DCS EPS not composed, be sure to include all the individual EPS files as well. Be sure resolutions are correct. As a rule, dump any unused swatches from the Illustrator EPS file before sending.

Good luck. W2
