does the speck case damage the MB in any way? What prevents scratches from the case on the MB?

I don't see how it can cause any damage, it basically just snaps on. Looks ok to me.

So its absolutely tight and doesnt wobble in any way? I guess I was just concerned that it wasnt an absolute perfect/snug fit and that without pads in there it might nick up the case.

Video is very good, yet not perfect. expose is smooth, dashboard does not feel perfect, but it's difficult to notice any lag. everyday work is very smooth, except using Loupe tool in Aperture. everything else is just fine. someday I will get macbook pro, but now macbook is more than enough for me really.

I haven't noticed any scratches because of the case. There should not be any, because it does not move on the case. However, I'm not that picky about the scratches and they do not bother me.

Hi all. Long time lurker posting for the first time. Finally, after months of dithering i decided to replace my aging eMac.
Should i get an iMac or Macbook Well, after my first visit to the London Apple Store to see these in the flesh i fell in love with the Macbook. Then more dithering, brand new or refurb, Core Duo or Core 2 Duo
Decided on a refurbished Core Duo black from the online Apple Store for £699. Ordered on Sunday and it arrived two days later.
Bought a set of Cool Feet which are great. Would like to buy the Mare Ware protection kit i keep seeing in photos but can't find a stockist in the UK. Can anyone help?
I'd read on forums before about refurbished Macs coming with higher specs than those advertised. This came with 1GB instead of the advertised 512MB. It also came with a USB Modem and Mini-DVI to VGA adapter. Are these usually extra if you buy brand new?

The modem and adaptor are extras, they would cost you about £15 each I believe. I think you've got yourself a great deal there!

What speakers are those, and there is any chance of grabbing that Mondrian desktop from you?
Thanks!

You can download it from here. http://www.fototime.com/87174E94DBFD48E/orig.jpg
The speakers were from Argos (UK cataloge store). Cost about £14.00 and have the Wharfedale logo but i have seen the same style speakers elsewhere with a different logo.

That mouse has got to be about 5 years old.
Another thing i found out about this refurbished Macbook. Went to play a DVD today and it was set to Region 1 and not the default Region 2 that i was expecting. (I'm in the UK).
A pop-up window said i had 4 more resets so i set it to R2. Does this mean that it was reset to R1 by the original owner or could this be a US model?

Most likely means that the original owner was in the US, and set the region code to 1 when (s)he popped in the first DVD. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's possible to reset the region code once you use up your 5 times.

It is possible - you just have to reload the firmware for the drive.

12in, 1.33 mhz Pobwerbook. 17in LCD I got for freeee. Logitech BT Mouse. Two 250 GIG external firewire HDs. Cheap speak system. iSight. 1GB Shuffle. 30GB G5 iPod. Canon Powerlite Scanner (not shown). Lots of little toys.
Its not the most stylish place, but it works well for me.

how do you like those monitors? I've been looking to get a set, but haven't found to many people commenting on the quality.
I'm kind of stuck in the middle quality wise, I've got a set of m-audio monitors at home, and a set of Mackie HR-824s at work (and a set of JBL LSR6328P's in another room)... so I've been looking for a happy medium. (been looking at the v6s.)

I would adore to have that setup, infact I will try very hard to get something that looks as good as that. Work of art! And also, is that the mighty mouse and apple keyboard?

A nice expensive set up you have there 328iGuy with your Macbook Pro and iMac . Looks good, I've just started my dream set up a few days ago, by ordering some nice speakers for my desk... then to come the Macbook in august... then an external screen... =D. For those who are thinking "What the hell is he gonna use his speakers for if he has no macbook," have no fear, I have an iPod which I will use them with, so save your ranting please.

I love the soundsticks. (I've got the original soundsticks with the USB connector.) So far every copy of Windows XP finds them and uses them out of the box. (As does OSX of course!)
I've got to get myself some of those IKEA lights now. They will fit nicely in my work area as well.

The mouse and mousepad are Razer Pro|Solutions. They work great except my apartment is dusty as heck. Maybe I should clean more. xD
The lighting is two 8 watt Liesta yellow florescent tubes and one set of white Trettioen LEDs (which I had originally) to whiten it up a bit. They are mounted with ease using command strips.

Some nice and expensive tech there, but if it were me I'd invest a couple hundred dollars or so in a more accommodating desk and burying some wires. You know, for a more Apple like, clean appearance.
