I miss the days of the G5 and XPS Pentium 4 running side by side as high-end machines.

I just got my MacBook Pro, and boy am I happy, I absolutely love it. My setup is kinda temporary before I return to school, so this is a quickly done home setup.
My MacBook Pro is 2.4GHz Santa Rosa 15" with stock setup. I am using a Dell E196FP 19" Monitor with it, which is nice :-)
Oh, and the lovely leopard background.

Yeah, up until today that's how I had it too. The stand really is a life-saver. I don't know why they don't just put the optical drive on the side for the Pro's...

Bumping the thread up - I don't have an MBP (yet), but there's bound to be a few new adopters who want to show off.

Well I'm hardly a new adopter (that's actually a first gen. CD ordered before two months after the MBPs announcement), but as I finally have a decent camera (although the light here doesn't do it justice) I'd thought I'd post a few pics.

I have that exact same map in the same location: right above my setup. I have map pins on all the places I've been.

since i can't pin stuff in the dorm i have resorted to putting red pen dots on the splaces that i have visited. i have placed so many different posters in that spot, and it never felt like a work area to me. once i put the map up, it felt just right and cozy plus the color differences are nice

Hey, so what kind of monitor is that that works with the Mac? Does it automatically switch resolutions when you turn it?

They are Klipsch 2.1 GMX-A speakers. Massive sub sits under the desk.
They have a lovely sound quality, vocals are well projected. However mine have recently developed a fault - there is often a bit of hissing and crackling coming through one of the speakers even with no input running through them. It doesn't affect the music though when fairly loud. Once I've found my receipt I'll be taking them back.

that could be from a bleeding power input. have you tried different sockets in the room and/or different rooms to see if the hissing stops?

This is my Macbook Pro. It's switched off, and there's a lamp pointing at it from behind - I thought it was quite interesting how the light gets through the Apple logo and lights up the display.
