Heya,

I made the mistake of letting my brother borrow my Pismo for 6 months. When it came back he had yanked the sound port loose so that when I plug it into my speakers I get heaps of static unless I put downward pressure on the port/connector. Is there any way to somehow fix up the port without taking the whole machine apart? Thanks,

P.Carter

No.

Most likely, the sound/power board needs to be replaced -- there's no real way to service the specific connector.

Agreed, you'll need a new ac/sound card. I tried to solder mine and ended up frying the motherboard somehow. It's tricky to replace this part as you have to disassemble the entire unit, but...

I bought my parts from these guys:

Looks like $109 for the part. I actually have a spare, but I'm using it to rebuild a second Pismo.

Good luck!
