We've had lots of "best of" threads. So how about the worst movie ever?

I vote for Clan of the Cave Bear even though the way those cave dudes expressed their "Hello I love you won't you jump in my bed" is really priceless
And that's true too.--Shakespeare, King Lear

I haven't seen this movie, but the review is hilarious.

The new comedy from Tom Green, "Freddy Got Fingered," is quite simply the worst movie ever released by a major studio in Hollywood history.

Crow 2: City of Angels

it was so bad i switched off after 15 mins. I'll normally sit through most movies (I've seen last action hero three times!) no matter how bad. That's what I thought of Crow 2.

A subject that I'm actually an authority on!

Worst movies ever -

Battlefield Earth
There's Something About Mary (sorry guys - I stopped laughing at toilet jokes when I was in 7th grade)
Jack Frost (the killer snowman one)
Armegeddon (a load of testosterone-filled crappola)
Batman 3

And so many more which I can't think of now.

Conspiracy Theory
Hollow Man
Sphere

These are just some that I have seen and couldn't stand. I am sure there are more, but I can't think of them now.

Over The Top - An arm wrestling movie starrin Sly.......need i say more?

Anyone see the movie Mad City from a few years ago? Probably the worst movie I ever saw on the big screen. But I think the absolute worst in recent years has to be Deep Impact (saw it on an airplane; glad I didn't pay for it). Much worse than Armageddon.

Your topic description reminded me of the comic book guy from the Simpsons.

Watch any episodes of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 and they have the worst movies you've ever seen.

Wow, obviously you people do not have a sufficient education in grade-Z movies. It's the movies nobody has heard of that really suck. If you heard of these movies, you know what I'm talking about:

Super Ninja
Zardoz
A Boy and His Dog
Plan 9 from Outerspace
Pod People
The Brain that Wouldn't Die
The Wild, Wild World of Batwoman
Red Zone Cuba
Arizona Werewolf

That's just a small sampling. Some of you recoginize some of those from MST3K episodes. If you watch MST3K, you get a great feel for some of the really really crappy movies that Hollywood has put out.

Okay, there have definitely been a few bad movies listed, but there have been a few where I'm just thinking, wow, if they didn't like that, what in the hell type of movie do they like?

As for my tastes, seeing as I am a grade A, 100% movie fanatic, it really takes a lot for me to "OH MY GOD, HOW COULD THEY MAKE THIS CRAP!" So, with that said, i have got to cast my vote for:

ROBOT JOX

Anything by director Renny Harlin, a talentless hack

I second the nomination of "There's Something About Mary", and add to the list its precursors, "Ferris Bueller('s Night Out?)" and any Ace Ventura.

The absolute worst movie ever simply must be "Food of the Gods" starring Marjo Gortner. Some sludge spews from the earth and the animals that eat it grow huge. When the giant mice attack, the house is actually made of Lincoln Logs. Later the same house is the label from the Lincoln Logs can. That's right, a flat piece of paper. The only thing more lame than the cheesy special effects is the dialogue.

Anyone ever seen Week End by Godard? It has a few moments (such as fictional characters being set on fire....while still alive) but when we got to the cannibalism scene, even some of my fellow film majors walked out.

Save Ferris!

Ferris Rules.

John Landis has tried to make some bad movies, but Ferris wasn't one of them.

[Duplicate post]

But while I'm here, I'd like to nominate just about everything put out by Buena Vista/Disney in the last ten years. Dreck.

For the record, I thought 'There's Something about Mary' was one of the funniest moviest I'd ever seen.

Sorry being a major movie efficianato that I can't understand anyone not liking "Ferris'..." it's classic. Also I did like something about Mary so feel free to flame the crap out of me.

I also can't understand many of the others as "worsts" and I too must ask myself what sort of movies do these people like? Oh well everyones opinion counts (even if it does suck )

I personally despise "chick flicks", and avoid 'em like the plague. Not movies with lots of sexy women, just those kinds that only a woman could possibly relate to at all.

Also since my Ex-wife loved this one I just must say the movie "Give me an F" was the worst 80's dance show crap I've ever seen.

Blues Brothers 2000 - I probably would have torn my eyes out if I had to sit through it in the theatre. Fortunately, I saw in on VH1...still wanted to tear my eyes out, but I managed to get to the remote first.

What a horrible, POS that degrades the memory of the first film and all the people invovled....especially John Belushi...R.I.P

How the hell did this movie ever get made?

Same goes for "teen flicks": Ferris, Ace, Mary. IMOFO

its funny that sonicblue listed off that long list of bad movies with "manos, the hands of fate" listed at the top. that was the first movie i think of when i think of bad movies. ya, i only saw it because of mst3k but hey, its still bad. even they couldnt make it good. if i remember correctly, they complained that there just wasnt anything to make fun of it was so bad.

other scaught nominations:
little nicky
dude, wheres my car (yes, this is admitting i saw it.)
tarzan, legend of greystoke

. theres just too many.

im not a Tom Cruise fan, but his performance in magnolia is probably the single most significant acting performance i have ever seen. After seeing Magnolia, i ained a great deal of respect for him.
Something about Mary was in my opinion the funniest movie in the year it was released.

Movies named that are good:

Matrix

8mm

Seven

The Cell (No not because of j-lo, just wonderfully crafted sets)

Ferris rules, its a classic

I just hope to god nobody says Fight Club, cuz then I'll just get ticked.

"The First Daughter" and... argh. Dammit. Thats just friggin' typical, I had the name of it in my mind and now I can't remember it... oh thats it.

"The Bogus Witch Project", and its more serious brethren, "The Blair Witch Project"

*shudder*

There are worse, that have been scrubbed from my memory, though...

the only movie i have ever had to shut off mid-way through was "the messenger"

i couldn't take any more of her panting in slow motion without a plot.
it was killing me.

ferris is fantastic.
can't diss it.

but, i have to agree, something about mary was just dumb (to me... no flame war over this please...)

seven wasn't all bad... david fincher kicks it.

poocat.
