I'm up in DC for a few weeks so I thought I'd check out the Tyson's Apple Store (I picked up an Apple TV). Seeing that this was the first Apple Store I thought they'd make an attempt to make it special. Not quite. The place was dirty/dumpy from floor to ceiling. There was a noticeable layer of dust on everything. Overall I found it cold and sterile and generally lacking. Maybe I was expecting too much. I just though it would be a more pleasant environment. Then again, maybe I'm just not the target audience.
Anyone else been to the Tyson's store recently?

Usually most weekends, I live about 10 min away from there so I go to the mall often. Compared to the other apple stores i've been to, it pretty much looks the same.

I tried to go to the grand opening of that store... what a nightmare. There were probably two thousand people in line. No kidding. It was unbelievable.
I went home. No way was I waiting all day in line to see a retail store.

If it was sterile wouldn't it not be dusty?

That's a real shame - The only one I've ever been to is the one on Reagent Street in London - That one is always so clean it blinds you on a sunny day, I love it in there

Tyson's Corner gets like that as the mall is extremely busy. I live across the street from the Apple Store in Pentagon City which is not bad, but my favorite is the Clarendon Apple store. It is a few miles away and I sometimes drive to that one instead of walk to the other.

I've been, I'd say a year ago. I didn't notice anything particularly bad on my trip. I've only been to there, the one in Norfolk (MacArthur) and SoHo. Maybe you went on a bad day? Or maybe something happened with the management over there. Seems odd, in any case.

That wasn't teh first apple store. First Apple store was in Glendale, CA. May or June 2001 I believe.

No...I think the Tyson's Store was the first (maybe I'm wrong tho).
And it's been a few months since I've been there, but I like the Tyson's store. It's definitely bigger than a few others I've been to, and I can't remember it being dirty.
Tyson's Corner is a pretty high-dollar mall (relatively speaking). I can't believe any store in that place would let itself go too much.

Turns out that the Tyson's and Glendale stores opened up on the same day.

Tysons Corner Apple Store recently underwent some construction. That may be residual from that.

Kind of off topic, but I drove by Pentagon City on the way to see the DC United play. I couldn't believe how nice that place looks. It all looks brand spankin new.
I have been to the one in Norfolk inside Macarthur Center Mall. It was pretty nice, but it wasn't that big. Pretty cool, though as that was my first Apple Store I've been in. Hopefully it will be my last because I spent 1900.
