Sidebar Problem

I put a folder in the Sidebar of my home folder because I use it alot.
Today I tried to access that folder by clicking on it and nothing happened. The folder wouldn't open. I tried to drag it off the sidebar and it won't go, it just snaps back to the sidebar and won't open the folder. I can open the folder if I navigate to the folder.
How can I remove the folder from the sidebar? Any suggestions appreciated.
PS: I just noticed that I cannot remove any items from the sidebar, when dragged off they just snap back to the sidebar. I can open the other folders in the sidebar, except for the one in question.

ok, excuse my standard question: does the behavior persist after a reboot ?

Before you reboot, try logging out and back in.

The problem remains after a reboot and logging in and out. I deleted the Finder plist and reset the preferences. That eliminated all the items I previously added. I re-added those items and can now open the folder that would not open before. I was able to drag one item off and it disappeared but none of the remaining items is able to be dragged off. They just snap back.

HOORAY!!! I can't tell you how many times I've been using a clients computer and they have tap to click/drag turned on. I'm doing whatever and *POOF* something is gone from the sidebar...

Chabig, I just discovered that you need to hold down the command key and came back to report same, but you beat me to it. Thanks.
I wish Apple wouldn't make needless changes like this.

This makes it the same as the menu bar. I wish they would just go ahead and complete the circle and apply it to the dock.

I hadn't noticed that they've finally changed this - awesome!
I think the Dock should stay the way it is, though - it may be inconsistent, but the Dock is far more variable in daily use.

You can also remove Sidebar items via a right click menu that was not there before 10.6.7. I had actually tried right clicking when I tried to remove my folder but that menu did not show up until I deleted the Sidebar plist and Finder plist.

I just noticed the right-click menu too, just like the dock. As mentioned, now the sidebar, the dock, and the menu items in the menu bar are all slightly different.
