Does anyone have a sufficient way to copy OS X from one hard drive to another?

Thanks in advance,

If it is less than 4GB you can use Apple Software Restore to replicate an OS X partition to any mounted volume. I have used this method several times. It produces an identical copy.

There is also a cccloner application that works on larger partitions. The author of cccloner has a great website with good tips on backing up OS X partitions. etc.

You can make a "DVD/CD Master" disk image of your entire hard drive with Disk Copy in OS X. Save that image on a larger hard drive, and you can restore it later using the Unix dd command. No need to use any OS 9 utilities.

I have just done this and had problems when I tried to boot. Lots of problems found with DiskUtility. Still not boot so tried Norton and then was able to boot and apps work.

Except now I can't run Classic environment. I get a message: You are running Classic without superuser(root) privileges. Ensure TruBluEnvironment is setuid and owned by root, or reinstall Mac OS X System Software. What will a reinstall do over OS X. I know it's not a big deal with OS 9.

Thanks for any ideas.
