Excel 2008 issue

I havent used Excel 2008 in a while
but its tax season and for some reason the floating box where I see my typing
does not appear above the spread sheets.
guess it diappeaerd some how
how to I find you to get it back ? its the narrow window where you correct your
typing rather then delete and start again which I have to do now

Go to the View menu, and select "Formula Bar." Violá! It should be back the way you want.
There is a tiny red "close window" button at the far top left of the Formula Bar, and it's possible to accidentally click on it when trying to put the cursor in the formula window...

I have to keep Excel '08 because Numbers doesn't play well with ANY of my important spreadsheets developed with Excel. I track finances and professional education, among other things, with these sheets, and I refuse to reinvent them for Numbers (which "says" it should be able to translate all of my very simple formulae from Excel - but lies). Thus I'm stuck with Excel...
