My friend is looking into a job and one of the requirements is the ability to use a Mac. I don't know what OS. I am assuming OSX. I remember seeing a few tutorials here. Anyone have links to good tutorials? I know nothing beats hands on experience but she doesn't have time for that right now. Thanks for any help.

really how much experience does it take to learn OS X? I assume your friend has experience with at least windows so the concept of a GUI is already there.

Just show off how stuff like how shut down is in the apple menu with system prefs, how applications go in /Applications/ and all of the user data is in /Users/name/. also basic stuff like what Library is for what. Dock is where app launch, navigation is done from and how apps, folders, urls, files, etc can go in and out of it.

Can't think of any tutorials (outside the one that's built into every OS), but a suggestion might be for her to go to a local college and check out their computer labs. Usually you can ask for a guest pass and play around on the macs there. Heck, even have her go into an Apple Store or into a CompUSA and she can check out the OS there. It doesn't take long to learn it; even if she does only know windows &lt;snicker&gt;. Not only that, but if she goes to the stores to check them out than someone who works there can show her how it all operates and answer whatever questions she might have.

well, how about taking some desktop pics and photo shopping them up to show off what you want her to see and note. I went to apples site hoping to find the video's of stuff in OS X but with jag I can't find them anymore. <img border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" title="" src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" />
