I was just curious to know where you take your laptop/notebook? It's a given that most would probably take their portable with them on business trip but what about on vacation? Do you take it to the with you on a weekend or day trip? What about to a park on a weekend? There was a story I saw the other day that might include beaches as a free public hotspot in some areas. I couldn't believe someone would take a computer with them to the beach (considering the heat and sand) but if someone wants to set up a hot spot there. . .

Vacation, school (sometimes), friends (if we need it), work (I work at an Apple channel partner), when I need it.

I use it in the cafe, bus, bed, and even toilet.
I take it everywhere if no one is at home (my front door doesn't lock)

I take my iBook to work sometimes (Mac tech support), class rarely anymore since I would never pay attenetion if I had it (watching Family Guy during freshman chemistry distracted pretty much everyone around me), group projects, weekend trips if I'll need it. If I'm just lounging around my house I take my Lombard running Tiger so I don't have to unplug everything from my 'docked' iBook.

Somewhere out of the house when I need to do work (coffee shop, library, etc.). I have trouble concentrating on work when I'm at home.

Everywhere. Though strangely I have never taken it to Panera.

Bah, why can no one call Panera what it really is?
(It's St. Louis Bread Co, the rest of the world wouldn't hear it and they had to rename it everywhere outside of St. Louis)

Because Panera doesn't call itself what it really is either?
(Incidentally, I don't remember St. Louis Bread Co. from when I lived there. I've only ever known it as Panera.)

During school, essentially everywhere with me. Classes, meals in the caf, though rarely open in the caf, in the student centre, dorm room, home on the week ends, bathroom, gym (might want to do some writing and it's cool a the gym so I might just crack open my laptop and write for a while though I often keep pen and paper in my bag for that too). Out down town to visit friends for coffee. Friend's places, when I interned at the Church I had my mobile office in my laptop bag, I'd also often bring it to the church and connect it to the sound system or something. Oh and the Library at school all the time.

Mmmmm...Panera Bread...
I take my PowerBook with me everywhere. I have a Timbuk2 backpack that I store it in that is permanently strapped to my shoulder, and I get made fun of for it all the time. Everyone is constantly saying something like, "Ryan, you and your Mac..."
But I laugh them off and point out that I just converted my 13th person to Macs.

Panera bread = $2 sandwich for $6. Good atmosphere though.

Yah I'm the mac guy on campus too. Once a guy's battery for his iBook came from Apple but they didn't see a name on the packaging. So they just went looking for me cause they knew it was either mine or I'd know who's it was.

never taken it to ethiopia. everywhere else tho. paneras are good to pull into the parking lot late at night and use the connection, it's usually still on.
i take one of my powerbooks almost everywhere, but it's been kind of nice not having to since a got a PPC-6700 from Sprint....I've seriously yet to find anything, except heavy photoshop etc, that i cant do with it..makes it nice and easy to leave the powerbook in the car occasionally. Syncs with my Exchange server too, I have office email on the phone faster than it shows up in Entourage actually.

My horse is bluetooth enabled, so I don't need to take my eyes off the paddock and go searching for my cell phone when a call comes in.
