After about 8-10 days with my Mighty Mouse it does this horrible squeak when I click down, even if i just start to click it squeaks. It's the plastic on plastic rubbing together and NOT the pesio speaker inside.

Is anyone else having this? I really like using it, but the noise is killing me, makes me upset everytime i press down. I purchased it online from Apple.com, can I take it into the Apple store next to my house and exchange it?

Anyone else having something similar? I don't want to exchange it, if the plastic is just going to wear and start the noise again.

I can record the sound if somebody really needs to hear it....

I've had one for a few weeks, and it has just started to do this too!

I've also noticed after a few weeks that it doesn't glide as well on the desk surface as it did initially. Cleaning the underside edge of gunk doesn't really help - the plastic just doesn't run that smooth any more.

mine started to squeak, too. I read elsewhere that the cure is to turn it over and press on the underside around the serial number. That has stopped the squeaking. Yes, Mighty Mouse needs belly rubs...

I wonder if Apple got a bad batch. I bought mine from a fellow MacNN'er who was less than thrilled with the feel or function. No squeaks at all.

Mine squeaked horribly after the first day of using it. I turned it over and sort of pried and pushed on the bottom (the center part that actually moves) pretty firmly, and something sort of popped into place. It hasn't squeaked once in the last week.

I did the same, that fixed it for me too.

Just annoying now that I've got to clean the ball like every hour or else it won't scroll up.

I just got mine and it was squeaking quite a bit. It's really annoying.

Anyway, I tried what you suggested and it doesn't squeak anymore. I'm quite surprised it worked so well.
