I assume there is no webcast of Wednesday's big launch(es). What recommendations do you have for following proceedings?
Endgadget is covering it at this URL.
I assume the mighty 'NN will be doing something similar, but I don't see where yet.
Any idea of other sources? Video, text, Twitter...?

I'm hoping twitter has a good updater<-or whatever. It'll be easy to follow on my phone while I'm at work. But then again, if any good site isn't blocked then I might just use the ol' work p.o.s.

Back in the day, the webcasts stuttered and pixelated just fine. Now that we finally have the bandwidth and computers to play the streams, we have nothing to watch.
Why no live streaming coverage?

Doubt it.
Unless, of course, they don't release a touch tablet. Which would be hilarious.

I'm rooting for them to not release it.
Actually what would be hilarious is if they did the whole show as normal. But spend even more time demoing the most inane stuff ever. Like spend 20 minutes talking about iPod sales... spend 20 minutes listening to various software developers fellate the Mac platform... have them spend 20 minutes talking about the new environmentally sound plastic they are using... 20 minutes of Jon Ives talking about the industrial design of some new packaging system for Macs... spend 20 minutes having Steve demo a new lame way for iPhoto to sort pictures... 20 minutes on a new painting app for kids, called iPaint... then have a song by someone absolutely terrible... dim the lights... wait 5 minutes...
then boom... have steve come back out and yell, SYKE! Here it is after all. One more thing bitches!

This may sound weird but is it ok to say shit on the board? I've just noticed it in a few threads...

If it's not being censored right now it definitely will be again if people use it too much. But perhaps the staff is preparing for expletive usage in the aftermath of the new product debut.

Reader50 removed sh!t from the l!st. He asserted (r!ghtfully so) that !t was s!lly to censor that.
Unfortunately, ! had replaced the ! key with a ! key, so there !s no way of go!ng back.
Tough t!tt!es.

I think the accepted explanation is that Apple doesn’t gain anything from live streaming. They get plenty of attention for every press event, with hype buildup before and coverage amounting to free advertising afterwards. On the other hand, if the streaming goes poorly, it’s a distraction. One could argue that when it goes well, it advertises QuickTime as a platform for live video streaming, but they don’t seem to be so aggressive at marketing that anymore.

I agree with your explanation, slug. The streaming required a lot of bandwidth and was of marginal value.

The streaming probably required less bandwidth than YouTube uses in three minutes.
