I do not own a DS. I do not own Mario Cart DS. I do like green eggs & ham. If I were to own a DS, and Mario Cart DS, my friend ID would be "rickey939" (or 242535).

My DS is coming Thursday with Mario Kart DS.

When it comes I would be glad to race you all and kick some a$$.

Finally got to play a four-player game online this morning, and I can't wait to get home and play some more. I've played against people who don't know how to powerslide, as well as some other racers who probably have already beat the game on 150cc and unlocked everything. All in all, online play is fantastic.

Gamecube Nintendo, misspelled for marketing purpose (NGC doesn't sound right)

Going to order Mario Kart DS soon but like some others I'm not the biggest fan.

I'm not really into NES (read: video games) anymore (except Ms. Pacman), but was a BIG fan of Mario Kart 64. Can someone with experience with the new Kart compare it to the 64 version?

I don't think it was because it sounded better. I think every console has some sort of SKU code and NGC was already used by the Neo Geo or something.

theres no way to converse with someone youre playing with in the game, so it cant be that.

i really wonder why N would take this stance?

Blanket policy? Feel good for the parents? Whatever the reasoning for Nintendo I'm sure it comes down to underage kids and "strangers".

But they can converse at the Nintendo forums. Given the likelihood of a majority of users owning the game, hurt feelings would definitely swamp the place. It seems an attempt to preserve the anonymity of the game online as much as the sanity of the forum mods.

As often as I get beat online (probably by people half my age to top it off) I wonder if I was ever any good at the old games. I thought I was...

Hypothetically, if my Friend Code was something like:

214808
954304

and my NickName was something lame like:

Elusive

I might be crazy enough to add every friend code on this page to my list, hoping that some of you listed here would also add me to your own lists so that we could see one another.

Hypothetically, of course. Take care! :-)

LOL. i forgot to state that my mario cart name is just Death.

BTW it might not be a bad idea to get a NDS now. The price has dropped to $129
from $150

Just a thought though.

What happens if you 'upgrade' from a DS to a Lite? I've got Mario Kart and Animal Crossing with codes for going online. Do the codes transfer with the cartridge or will I have to have new codes??

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I've moved on to MP: Hunters, myself. Haven't touched Mario Kart in weeks.

A new code for you will be generated for each of those games. The code is unique to a cartridge/DS combination. Seems like a pain in the ass until you want to sell or trade a game.

Not sure about having to re-enter your friends codes, though. Or exactly how the "moving" feature works in AC. Pretty sure it's just cart-to-cart, though.

Maybe we should set up some game times for MacNN Kart games. That would be an international fun fest.

Random question... because my directions and DS are all in Japanese.

In Kart, while waiting to gather people, I sometimes see on the top screen in the lower right hand corner, a blue box with a white person and little waves coming off him. What does this mean.

Thanks.

That means someone on your friends list is searching for a game. Never figured out if it only shows when they search for friends.

Also, the WiFi transfer option (DS to DS) lets you keep your original connection ID on the new machine and erases it from the old one. No need to re-add your friends or get a new code of your own.
