The thing is, those outlets being excluded are dying as it is. By their own hand they'll be dead in a few years because fewer and fewer people listen to them and they're hemorrhaging $$.

Trump lays out hike in military spending - BBC News
A 10% hike in military spending. Given that you already outspend the next 5 largest militaries on the planet AND two of those are Russia and China, really? What on earth do you need it all for.
On a side note wouldn't "Trump to find 10% efficiency savings in the military be better, after all he's forever telling us how smart he is and how he can deal. You famously spend around $47850 on a screwdriver don't you?

Pimpin' ain't dead.
The websites Liberal Society and Conservative 101 appear to be total opposites. The former publishes headlines such as “WOW, Sanders Just Brutally EVISCERATED Trump On Live TV. Trump Is Fuming.” Its conservative counterpart has stories like, “Nancy Pelosi Just Had Mental Breakdown On Stage And Made Craziest Statement Of Her Career.”
So it was a surprise last Wednesday when they published stories that were almost exactly the same, save for a few notable word changes
After CNN reported White House counselor Kellyanne Conway was “sidelined from television appearances,” both sites whipped up a post — and outrage — for their respective audiences. The resulting stories read like bizarro world versions of each other — two articles with nearly identical words and tweets optimized for opposing filter bubbles. The similarity of the articles also provided a key clue BuzzFeed News followed to reveal a more striking truth: these for-the-cause sites that appeal to harccore partisans are in fact owned by the same Florida company.
Liberal Society and Conservative 101 sites are among the growing number of so-called hyperpartisan websites and associated Facebook pages that sprung up in recent years, and that attracted significant traffic during the US election. A previous BuzzFeed News analysis of content published by conservative and liberal hyperpartisan sites found they reap massive engagement on Facebook with aggressively partisan stories and memes that frequently demonize the other side’s point of view, often at the expense of facts.
Jonathan Albright, a professor at Elon University, published a detailed analysis of the hyperpartisan and fake news ecosystem. Given the money at stake, he told BuzzFeed News he’s not surprised some of the same people operate both liberal and conservative sites as a way to “run up their metrics or advertising revenue.”
“One of the problems that is a little overlooked is that it's not one side versus the other — there are people joining in that are really playing certain types of political [views] against each other,” Albright said.
And all it takes to turn a liberal partisan story into a conservative one is to literally change a few words.
Liberal Society’s story about Conway’s alleged TV ban ran with the headline, “White House FINALLY Gives Kellyanne Conway The Boot, Are You Glad?” read its headline. Things were more grim over at Conservative 101: “White House Just Gave Conway The Boot, Prepare To Be Infuriated.”
Some Of Those Hyperpartisan Sites On The Right And Left Are Actually Owned By The Same People | BuzzFeedNews.com
And yes I am well aware of the "irony" involved with BuzzFeed publishing an article on what is essentially political "click bait". But I found the story to be quite interesting nonetheless.

You know, this fake news lark is fairly simple to orchestrate, but difficult to counter isn't it? Generating the content involved is quite easy and formulaic. And the content provides distractions and smokescreens and generates loyalty among opposing bases.
Is it possible all this fake news is the work of an AI destabilising human governments?

Sean Spicer targets own staff in leak crackdown - POLITICO
Last week, after Spicer became aware that information had leaked out of a planning meeting with about a dozen of his communications staffers, he reconvened the group in his office to express his frustration over the number of private conversations and meetings that were showing up in unflattering news stories, according to sources in the room.
Upon entering Spicer’s office for what one person briefed on the gathering described as “an emergency meeting,” staffers were told to dump their phones on a table for a “phone check," to prove they had nothing to hide.
The phone checks included whatever electronics staffers were carrying when they were summoned to the unexpected follow-up meeting, including government-issued and personal cellphones.
Spicer also warned the group of more problems if news of the phone checks and the meeting about leaks was leaked to the media. It's not the first time that warnings about leaks have promptly leaked. The State Department's legal office issued a four-page memo warning of the dangers of leaks, and that memo was immediately posted by The Washington Post.

You see this is where I get annoyed about the free market right and their constant disparaging of socialist economics and the hand out culture when huge sections of industry and commerce are almost entirely dependant on government hand outs.
Companies complain about government distortions of the market. As an example over here we have companies complaining about the BBC distributing free educational content and "distorting the market" and preventing them from charging for their product. In the past the government used to run schemes for disabled people to work, producing basic items, giving them work, money and self worth. Until companies complained that this distorted the market and prevented them from making competing goods.
As far as I can see no company has a right to government money, or to any sort of market other than the one that exists. If it exists so that these competitive forces exist, then they should simply deal with it. A market that exists in the present form due to corporate lobbying and pressure is no more natural than any other kind. Just more beneficial to them.
Governments (everywhere) need to pay far less attention to what works for corporations and much more to what works for the people that live, vote and pay taxes.

The cost of applying socialist economics to the military is a defense budget a good 5 to 10 times what it would be otherwise.
Most think that's better than the alternative, but the expense lays a criticism of socialist economics right on the table.
That said, I bet many right-wingers would rather circlejerk an explanation for how the military isn't socialist rather than admit there are reasons to be so at times.
Which is frustrating.

"From each according his ability, to each according to his need" applies to the military in what way? There were armies (and police, and post offices, and roads, and.....) long before Marx was born.

Well we knew from the confirmation hearings that Betsy DeVos was utterly clueless when it came to education ... especially in the public sector. Her agenda is the privatization of the educational system. Of which "school choice" is the first step towards that ultimate goal. So it is not surprising in the least that she would start tweeting comments that conflate the reason for the creation of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) with "school choice".
NEWSFLASH Sec. DeVos! The reason why HBCU's were created is because African-Americans had no choice to attend predominantly white educational institutions ... public or private.

Judge sentences 2 people convicted in confederate flag confrontation - Story | WAGA
In July 2015, just weeks after the Charleston church massacre, a large group of people drove up to a birthday party in Douglasville in trucks, flying American, military and Confederate flags. According to prosecutors, about 15 people, several pointing guns, were riding through town that day with a group called “Respect the Flag.”
“If you drive around town with a Confederate flag, yelling the N-word, you know how it’s going to be interpreted,” Judge William McClain said. “It’s inexplicable to me that you weren’t arrested by the police that day.
Looking at where this took place, it ain't inexplicable to me.

Socialism and Communism aren't the same thing.
Principles of Socialism, Communism, and Capitalism for that matter existed long before they were turned into philosophies of governance.
The military is basically a socialist utopia. It's a government, centralized planning authority is providing for everyone's needs.

Manafort’s Ukrainian ‘blood money’ caused qualms, hack suggests - POLITICO
In one March 2015 exchange that appears to be between the two sisters, Andrea Manafort seems to suggest that their father bore some responsibility for the deaths of protesters at the hands of police loyal to Yanukovych during a monthslong uprising that started in late 2013.
“Don't fool yourself,” Andrea Manafort wrote. “That money we have is blood money.”
In another hacked exchange a few months later with someone else, Andrea Manafort wrote that her father’s “work and payment in Ukraine is legally questionable.”
Wow.

So this was a day that we planned to have a final discussion about handling this.

Pence used personal email for state business — and was hacked
In addition to security issues, Pence's personal email account also raises new concerns about transparency, according to ethics experts and government accountability advocates.
Pence is already fighting in state court to conceal the contents of emails involving his decision to join a 2014 lawsuit challenging then-President Barack Obama's executive order on immigration. The emails are being sought by William Groth, a Democrat and labor lawyer who says he wants to expose waste in the Republican administration.
Richard Painter, former chief ethics lawyer to President George W. Bush, said it's bothersome that Pence is only now transferring his AOL emails to the state. It raises questions about whether those emails were included in previous responses to public records requests.
Pence’s own account was compromised in June when a hacker sent a counterfeit email to his contacts claiming Pence he and his wife had been attacked on their way back to their hotel in the Philippines, losing their money, bank cards and mobile phone.
In response, Pence sent an email to those who had received the fake communication apologizing for any inconvenience. He also set up a new AOL account.
Because the hacker appears to have gained access to Pence’s contacts, experts say it is likely that the account was actually penetrated, giving the hacker access to Pence’s inbox and sent messages.
The nature of that hack suggests it was part of a broad, impersonal attack — not one carefully crafted to target Pence in particular, Cappos said.
Too bad I think Pence has little to do with the Russian stuff. It'd be amazing if an AOL account was the downfall of the admin.

The Kansas Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that the state’s spending on public education was unconstitutionally low, dealing a new blow to Gov. Sam Brownback, who is facing a rebellion from his own Republican Party over his trademark tax-cutting doctrine.
In a unanimous ruling, the court said black, Hispanic and poor students were especially harmed by the lack of funding, pointing to lagging test scores and graduation rates. The justices set a June 30 deadline for lawmakers to pass a new constitutional funding formula, sending them scrambling to find more money to pay for a solution.
This is the second time in about a year that Kansas’ highest court has ruled against the state’s approach to paying for schools, just as Mr. Brownback finds himself wrestling with growing budget deficits and as his relations with fellow Republicans have deteriorated to new lows.
Maybe some more tax cuts are the answer.

Burn it down.
https://heatst.com/culture-wars/scri...otional-labor/
Scripps College, a prestigious women’s school outside Los Angeles, is promoting the idea that non-white students must be given monetary compensation for the “emotional labor” of having to deal with so-called microaggressions.
Campus resident assistants at the school are hanging up two sets of posters titled “Emotional Labor 101”: one for whites, and another for minorities, whom the posters dub as “victims of emotional labor.”
Per the Claremont Independent, both posters define “emotional labor” as having to exert energy “for the purpose of addressing people’s feelings, educating, making people comfortable, or living up to ‘social expectations.’”
If anything the normal people should be paid to have to deal with the crazy radfems and SJW Marxists.

Arkansas Rushes to Execute 8 Men in the Space of 10 Days
The state of Arkansas plans to put to death eight inmates over a span of 10 days next month, a pace of executions unequaled in recent American history and brought about by a looming expiration date for a drug used by the state for lethal injections.

The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones, senior American officials said on Sunday.
A spokesman for the F.B.I. declined to comment. Sarah Isgur Flores, the spokeswoman for the Justice Department, also declined to comment.
Whaaaa...? I'm a little surprised Comey doesn't have the authority to speak for himself.
Anyway, this is a little shady, since we know who's in charge of Justice.

I stand by the quality of my visual, but will admit I'm not using the meme properly.
I like Comey's judo move of taking the momentum of Priebus looking like an idiot for asking him to kill a story, and then hurling it right into Sessions' huevos.
