Just curious. I'm just ordering mine stock with 512mb ram. Does it come as a single stick or is it two 256mb sticks?

Had I gotten it w/ a total of 512, it would've been 2x256. I bought mine from the local Apple Store and had them install a couple of sticks of 512 instead.

It comes with two sticks...

I ordered 2GB of OCZ DDR2 from Tigerdirect.ca instead of paying for Apple RAM... its fairly overpriced.

Bummer...my brother's MBP came with 1x512mb; I've got a Mini with 2x256mb and I was hoping when I got my MacBook it would come with 1x512mb so that I could drop it into the Mini with the MBP's 512mb stick to run dual-channel memory. Oh well

taking his 512 stick and having 768 is still going to perform better than just 512mb, so its better than nothing if he's giving it to you for free

Well, it will decrease the video memory performance if I don't run dual-channel. Which isn't too big of a deal, I think, since it's just my DVD player right now

On another note, I don't understand why they didn't make the MacBook Pro's hard drive installation as simple as the MacBook's. I had to disassemble the whole stupid laptop just to get to the hard drive. They could have easily put a tray in front like my Gateway laptop has, but they didn't. Oh well

I dunno, that might actually be an interesting test. The reason that Apple ships the MacBook and the Mac Mini with two 256 MB sticks is that, because of the integrated graphics' shared memory, it is actually significantly slower to run unpaired memory than it is in the MacBook Pro.
