I slapped a 160Gb Hitatchi disk in my Macbook, and now I've noticed that occasionally it makes a beeping sound. This is coming from the HD itself, not the Macbook.

Any ideas what this means, and how to stop it ? I have not noticed a pattern to the beeps yet, but at the moment it's happening with the Macbook running closed on an external monitor.

The disk seems to function perfectly....

The HD in my Dell Latitude D400 does this, not sure why but it also seems to function fine.

Damn. That's annoying. Well, it's sufficiently quiet that I can't hear it with any amount of background noise
