Does anyone know which models of DV camcorders can do that are under $2000? I want to send an analog tape signal to my firewire so iMovie can capture it. Also, if the DV CAM can record from a line source, too.
Thanks

The only brand I know of that can do this is SONY. All of their digital camcorders do pass thru... even the really low priced ones. I got one for $500 that does it fine.

Thanks, now I know where to look, but if others have any other brands (I don't think JVC does).

I suggest getting a Sony. Good camera, and it does everything you want -- and more.

Newer Canon's do too. It's worth asking though, because not all do...especially 1-2 year old models.
I sure wish my XL-1 did.
