I've installed xCode 3.2 (the latest version) on my 10.6 mac. When I open xCode it asks me if I want to build a new project, but it does not indicate any template or project that appears to be Java. Am I missing something? Do I need to install something in addition so that I can build Java projects.

Thanks in advance

I find NetBeans or Eclipse to be a superior Java environment.

Apple removed the Java project templates from the New Project Assistant in Xcode 3.2, but you can create Java projects using the Organizer. Open the Organizer by choosing Window > Organizer. Click the + button at the bottom of the Organizer and choose New From Template > Java Templates. If you're learning Java, you'll want to create a Java Tool project.

Developing Java in XCode is just swimming upstream in my opinion.

As others have said, use a native Java IDE. IntelliJ if you don't mind paying for one, or Eclipse/Netbeans if you want free. (As a side note, everyone I've talked to says IntelliJ is *well* worth the money)
