I feel like a complete chump.
Only when I was trying to switch my 23 inch Cinema Display to my new MacPro, did I realize that the display has a 400 firewire connector (on the power adapter) and the new Mac only has 800 firewire ports. Duh!
Do I need a new monitor? (I maxed out my cash on the new Mac) Or is there some workaround? A mystery cable?
If there's no workaround, are there recommendations for decent 23 or 24 inch monitors that don't run more than $300 or $400?
Thanks.

Here is a cable you can use.
Just be aware that it will slow your FireWire 800 bus down to 400 speeds.

Thanks. That cable still left me with the problem of needing a female/female FW400 connector - something that may not exist or, at least, I couldn't find.
My neighbor's son suggested I use my old Belkin FW 6 port hub and that worked.
I think he was born after Apple 'invented' FW!!

Oh sorry, I didn't realize you needed a female FW400 connector. In that case, this is probably what you want, although it's kind of expensive compared to the male-to-male cable.
