I don't know if this has been discussed in pages 2 through 7, but I just noticed that the 24" version has a 1920 x 1200 LCD. That is a really good deal considering that a 23" 1920 x 1200 costs $899. That means the rest of the computer costs $900.

Not really. An APPLE 23" screen may cost $899, but the actual panel's not worth nearly that much. You can easily pick up a comparable non-apple screen for 400-500 dollars at that res.
