Commence speculating...

I don't think it would be the 15.4" PowerBook. New iPod or iBook maybe...

i second that. apple doesn't just *post* stuff out of the blue. They announce 3 months before it's available in a big hyped up way.

The last time this happened, all they did was to change the X-serve configs a bit and remove the old-style imacs. But interesting nontheless. We'll see.

did anyone notice the last time it went down to update the main page for the 3 new program updates? how long did it take them to get back up?

aahh...but that was the front page. this is the store that's down. I won't be getting my hopes up. If it was big then the front page would be down

While we're waiting, anybody else notice that the "Switch" and ".Mac" tabs at the top of the page don't load? I think I noticed this the last time they had the store page down.

These late-night weekend takedowns are always just for maintenance. Product intros are on weekday mornings.

If I recall correctly, the site went down on the Saturday night before the Xserve was updated.

You're very observant.

It's about time they changed that. In reality, the 17-inch PowerBook's keyboard backlight is white.

I seem to remember that the Store went down over the weekend in preparation for a Monday or Tuesday intro. In other words, the Store went down over the WE, and then a second time on Mon/Tue morning. The new products appeared only after the second downtime, on a weekday.

Hope springs eternal!

Is the Apple Store for Business New? There's a link for it on the left side of the regular Apple store page saying something about its introduction. I don't remember this being there, but then again I typically wouldn't pay attention to something like this either.

Nah, this has been around a good while, but I'm not sure if this extra advertising was there before.

You guys are lame. I mean come on, don't you think a company like Apple needs to do some MINOR tweaking of their online store/webpage every once in a while? EVERY TIME the Apple Store is down a million of you guys assume something new is going to be announced.

And was there anything new today? Nope. Give it a rest.
The world needs more Canada.

What's more lame - people getting excited over the "potential" of something, or someone being bothered by other people's excitement? Just a thought...

Given the new iPod and iBook are due to be announced any day, I'd say there's justified reason in assuming the store will be updated very soon...

Why do you guys think that new iBooks or iPods would be 'any day now'? Because a bunch of always-wrong rumor sites say so?

I think it will be summer before we see new versions of those products. Summer is a good time for consumer electronics, and a perfect time for a popular-in-education portable.
