YACT
(Yet another Colorless Theme)
BUT!
its an update of an old theme, completely redone for Jag.

Ive been busting my arse on this for the last week.
Yes, I know it is yet another silver/gray... theme but wait a second! It is actually just the update of one of my old themes which I made before I really had a handle on how to theme. This update is what I had intended for the initial version but didnt have the theme-experience to pull off like I wanted. It finally feels like the iPod in many ways which is where its inspiration comes from. I had thought about renaming it and releasing it as a completely new theme but I chose not to since Its what I wanted Pearl to be in the first place. Plus, I agree there are too many colorless themes out there now and I figured instead of adding to them I would just make one of my bad colorless themes into a nice one. It comes with a generic folder icon replacement, a BootX image and a desktop pic. ETA is still pending. For this theme, while I do appreciate feedback, it is more or less set in stone now. Thanks.

Edit-In this shot the slider is not updated yet.

Your themes make me happy

I love the colorless themes but one thing keeps bugging me. Progress bars are hardly visible while they are an essential part of the system. Is it possible to give them some color? (not much but some)

Are we suppose to be able to download it? 'Cause I don't see a link.

PS...I hope you don't take this the wrong way Swiss...and I hate to say it...but I find all your latest themes kinda look the same. No offense really, they are all great and beautiful, I especially like the late SimpleX. But lately your themes look like variations of each other. Anyhow, I know how hard it is to create themes...so I don't want to put you down I just wanted it to bring it to your attention. The harder the thruth is to say, the truer the friend that says it...meaning I'm telling it to as a "friend" not an enemy.

I'll certainly give it a shot when you release it. I'm not into "shiny" title bars, but it looks good anyway.

Not ready for download yet. I can see what you mean about some of the themes looking like one another, I mean, Power 1.6 and Power Ice are the same theme the only difference being one has sharper gradients than the other which has color. Pearl is an old theme and although it is also colorless; if you were to use it, and I hope you do try it out when it is ready you will see aside from the lack of color it shares almost no other semblence to any of my other themes. NeXT and BeOS are merely ports of course. I am through with colorless themes after Pearl is released because I feel it is all I could want out of a colorless iPod based theme. Believe me Dace, I have thought about this alot while creating Power and now updating Pearl but with this release I have satisfied myself which will finally allow me to kiss the desaturated look goodbye. I appreciate your honesty.

Hey swiz, I love you and all :-), but this looks to me like Milk.

Then again, I don't use it. But it looks pro.
Too shinny for me.
I'm still using AlumiteX and I can't get away from it. It's just god damn too nice and simple.
That makes me think of a thread... hehe... ;-)

Its natural that it looks similar to Milk, Max and I both set out to do iPod inspired themes. His initial attempt just beat the hell out of mine. This is what Pearl was meant to be initially.

Cool. If you are looking for an idea for your next theme that will look different, I suggest a really dark one. Those white themes look good in a preview, but when I install them they are so bright I go blind. That's why I used DSX for so long (besides it being super cool). It's so relaxing on the eyes to have everything very dark. Now I used 'Brushed' and it is right on the line as far a being too bright. Maybe I should suggest to Max to make a 'Dark Brushed' theme!

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Swiz,

Can't I change your mind about releasing? How about a beta? just a little beta?

My only comment is the metal gradient you used creates a dark grey line right acorss the center of the bigger blended areas. It's distracting to me.

Yeah John, I agree, I want to do something dark next and with color probably, I have a few ideas going.
Sorry KidRed, that is intentional.
Unlinear, you are in luck; I have finished the theme sooner than I though I would,

Its done.

It includes a simple desktop, a generic folder icon and a BootX replacement. Click the image to download it:

dont worry about it, my bad.

i just tried that myself like 30 seconds before i loaded this thread.. heh.

what will the graphite variation be?
the same, or slightly different?

if its a variation.. think you could make the titlebar a more even white? =)

The variation will add a slight hue to the buttons and scroll elements.Sorry theme variation from aqua to graphite dont allow for titlebar changes It would have to be a separate theme altogether.

Cool theme swiz.. I'll be using it a while for fun..
Hey, shouldn't the menu pull downs not be as dark gray as they are or do I need to log out and back in.. Mmmm...

Hey go vote for your theme.. ;-)

I would also recommend loosing the ipod name in the boot and the log screen... not make it remind us so much of the iPod.. it's after all a Mac OS X theme.. my two words

I have created a dock skin for Pearl.
It looks like this:

Download it by clicking the image.

You must use Skin-a-dock to apply it.

Edit- Please note the skin is only the circular parts, not the horizontal lines in between, those are my desktop pic.

I guess I could male an alternate version available with that background included. I just wanted it to be as unobtrusive as possible. I'll reply here when it is ready.
