i ordered my new PB on the 16th, and i thought i was going to receive iLife '04 with it (could've sworn i heard jobs specifically state such a fact during his keynote). carefully searched the box and nothin' doin'. should i call up apple and demand satisfaction or am i mistaken?

Are you sure the iLife apps aren't already installed? If they are, I doubt you'd get a separate iLife disc.

Check the version numbers of iMovie, iPhoto, etc. They should be 4.0. If they are not, yes, you should call Apple and demand satisfaction.

As an afterthought, since iLife wasn't available until the 16th, it's possible your machine went out without the discs. If you call Apple, make sure you point out that you ordered it on iLife's availability date; otherwise they will try to sell you the up-to-date version for $20.

Well, keep this in mind,

Apple has, guessing, 4 - 6 weeks of inventory in the channels at any given time. This means that even if machines started shipping with iLife 04 on the 16th of January, those machines wouldn't be hitting store shelves for a few weeks....in stores that don't move a lot of inventory, it could be more like a few months.

It will always take time to clear the old product out before the new product starts shipping.

You do, however, fall under the update program, in which you just pay the shipping costs for the new iLife 04.

And you'll have the priviledge to pay the most expensive "shipping cost" possible.

I bought my PB in store and I did fall in the iLife update program. Shipping costs $19.95 + tax. They removed this cost from the total cost of my PB.

Yep. They got me on the shipping cost as well.

But they have you by the short and curlies.
At $20.00(+tax), the iLife04 bundle is a very good deal- almost too good to pass up.

So, you pay more for what ought to have been included...but you rationalize the move one way or the other.

Then you can record a song to vent your frustration using GarageBand...

I didn't get ilife either even though I bought my powerbook from Amazon last week. Can I go into an Apple Store and pick up my free copy? ;-)

Or is the 19.95 shipping ($2) and HANDLING the only way to get it.
