Creating a hyperlink in Mail.app adds "25" in the middle of each " %20"

I have a web page whose url has a few of the "%20" that are added to indicate blank spaces. Example: If my web site out of iWeb is called "Soccer Pics", the url becomes
web.mac.com/bstruye/iWeb/Soccer%20Pics
OK so far.
But if I then go into Mail, type a link like "Click Here for Soccer Pics" and then select Edit > Create Hyperlink (if that's what it's called - not in front of me right now), it creates a hyperlink that now points to:
web.mac.com/bstruye/iWeb/Soccer%2520Pics
And of course when people click on that link, they get a "Page not found" msg.
Does anyone know how to avoid that?
Thanks very much.
Bo

Have you tried actually typing out the space? It looks like Mail is escaping the percent sign for you.

What do you mean by "typing out the space"? Do you mean replacing the space with an underbar?
And what do you mean by "Mail is escaping the percent sign for you" ? The percent sign is still there. Mail is just adding "25" between "%" and "20".

When I say "typing out the space," I mean typing a space where there's supposed to be a space.
And yeah, %25 is the code for a percent sign just like %20 is the code for a space. Mail automatically replaces these things with their codes.

Aha! So what you meant is "replace the %20 in the url with a regular space". Now I get it.
I will try that tonight.
Thanks guys!

I agree, Mail is an email program and is not concerned with the code that HTML needs. I have a URL with a space on one of my web pages. Mail tries to "retype" it when I make a link out of it.

To be honest, this behavior is how browsers should have handled URLs all along. There's no reason users should be forced to deal with the technical limitations of URL encoding. But early Web browsers were really not concerned with user-friendliness, and they got locked into that paradigm. At least now they stick on the http:// at the beginning, I guess.
