Apple is set to hire Josh Rosenstock, currently Rolls-Royce's director of external communications, according to PRWeek sources. Rosenstock is expected to join Apple in the next few weeks, and assume a newly-created job title as the company's director of corporation communications for Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa (EMEIA). One source describes Rosenstock as a "heavyweight" grab, and reflective of Apple interest in improving its corporate affairs as it becomes involved in global political and regulatory issues. Another source suggests that Apple may be particularly interested in influencing UK politics. "This is an acknowledgement from Apple there's a need for wider horsepower when it comes to links with Whitehall stakeholders. As Apple becomes an institution in its own right it needs to upskill in this area," the person says. Apple has come under fire in the UK after it was revealed that during 2011 and 2012, it paid less than 2 percent in corporate taxes on its profits outside the US.

Makes sense. The optical coating on the Retina MacBook Pro(s) has a purple tint similar to Rolls-Royce windows.

macnn might substitute the Rolls-Royce automobile image for an aircraft engine image. Mr. Rosenstock comes from Rolls-Royce plc, the global aerospace company (think engines for the Boeing 787 or the Airbus A380). Rolls-Royce plc has not manufactured automobiles since 1973 (when it was spun off to Vickers).

Would make more sense to hire somebody from Nikon or Zeiss then, because the anti-glare coating on their lenses (camera and spectacle) has had a purple tinge for decades.

They could have read the first sentence in the linked to article as well :
Apple is seeking to bolster its European corporate comms firepower with the hire of a senior figure from international aerospace firm Rolls-Royce.
