I'm freaking out.

My Macbook's HD is apparently gone. Disk Utility can't verify, repair, anything. I go to Time Machine restore, but there's too many sparsebundles, so I check on my other machine to see which one is the most recent.

They're all dated in MAY! Please tell me this is some weird thing Time Machine does and this does not mean my Time Capsule back-ups are worthless...PLEASE!

That's normal with sparse bundles. The modification date only changes if the item itself or the immediate contents of a folder change. A sparse bundle is a folder, hence the name bundle. The disk image of a sparse bundle is composed of segments instead of one single image file. The segments are contained in a folder called "bands" within the parent sparse bundle folder. So, the modification date never changes since the segments are one too many layers down in the structure.

You have NO idea how glad I am to hear you say that.
