YES! New languages are out for OS X via the Software Update control panel!!!!

Traditional Chinese:

Mac OS X is a multilingual operating system which allows users to use languages other than the one selected during installation. This update installs the additional fonts and resources needed to use Mac OS X in Traditional Chinese in addition to any other language currently installed. After installing this update use the International preference pane to set your preferred order of languages in applications menus and dialogs.

Already using Tier 2 10.1.1 (before updated to 10.1.2)... these software update didn't show up... can some one check if there's any update from Tier 2 10.1.1 build (update didn't show up on mine).

Any diff from the one below (/System/Library/Components):

I have 3.0.2 version of KoetoriUIServer.app from the new iBook.

BTW, the new iMac and iBook comes with newer Mac OS X 10.1.2 (saw the new iMac just now)... the kernel is newer... Darwin 5.2.2 kernel (instead of 5.2 on 10.1.2)... some new kernel extensions as well.

Just confirmed it with someone that just updated his Tier 1 Mac OS X with all the new Far East IME, and it's confirmed that there's no new IME component (for us already using the Tier 2 Mac OS X)in this Software Update... ^^

So they're installed now. How do I type in Chinese (simplified).

It will be painful for me - a paragraph an hour - but my cousins don't read much English.

To type in Chinese, you can choose from several options in one of the menus that appears after you choose the language. I personally use the Pinyin system (Romanization of the Chinese sounds) and it works fine.

I tried to install Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese (one after another) on a Quicksilver 867 MHz and a Powerbook Lombard, both machines with Mac OS X 10.1.2 (German language) installed.

While Traditional Chinese worked fine, the Software update stopped several times with Korean and Simplified Chinese, with the message that an error occured.

The Quicksilver is on a cable modem, the Powerbook on a dial-up connection.

Any tips?

By the way, early Saturday morning (Swiss time) I also could install the Simplified Chinese.
Tomorrow I'll try the Korean.

Great job, Apple! Finally, Mac OS X is the primary OS I use.

Still missing some languages... I guess, Arabic and Hebrew will be added next.

I successfully installed both Chinese packs and the Korean pack. I went to play with the Chinese input method, but nothing changes when I choose it from the keyboard menu! Also, the icons for all three languages look different from those on oeyvind's info page. What's going on?!?

Just a little confused.

Edit: Nevermind. After a reboot and re-enabling the keyboard menu items it started working. Now if only I knew Chinese or Korean...
