I am very much interested in the "desktops" and accessories people are using with their PowerBooks. The picture thread was great for seeing setup, add-ons and the such. Let's see how you "work" it!

So to get it started here is my 800 TiBook DVI with Cinema Display, with Soundsticks and a JVC Monitor for DV editing.

If the image doesn't show above, it can be found at http://home.earthlink.net/~dmwilsonh/mi_desktop.jpg

That's a great photo; Apple would probably love to see that since it really shows off what they're trying to do with the TiBook.

I don't have one myself, at least not yet. If I do I'll certainly get a good photo or two!

Sweet set up!

I used to have a mousepad like that. I think it was freebie from some vendor. Can't remember which one, though.

I thought about buying one large one, and two 17"ers was cheaper, and better in my opinion.

Man, I owned a Apple Color Classic in college. Believe it or not, it is still chugging away on Sytem 7 in one of my nephews rooms!

Wow, you've got a copy of the Ghost World comic (or is it a "graphic novel?")! Most people I know have only seen the movie, including myself. If you've seen it, does it compare much to the stories on paper?

Yet another post for me in this thread without actually owning a PowerBook.

If you like the movie, you should like the book. That is if you like books of the graphic genre.

Kaner, two things:

First, where can I get that desktop wallpaper (if it isn't built into Jaguar)? That's a nice look.

Second... how can you have a PowerBook and the other surrounding equipment yet use it all while sitting on an $8 chair?

Your next "upgrade" should be at Ikea or the local office supply store, methinks.

Finally learnt how to get these images up :

Here's my Ti 550 with my iMac 800. I mainly use the Ti for work and network it to the iMac when at home. iPod is close by, & Nokia 6310 Mobile. Photos are Taken with a Canon IXUS 300.

Thge Hifi has a Pioneer DVD(DVS737), Marantz Reciever (SR8000) Panasonic VCR, Playstation2 and at the bottom Epson Photo 890 Printer.

Hope you like.

Looks like a good job so far - if it's not too late, try to paint the interior an interesting colour (such as that blue) so that the keyboard stands out more.

Believe me , the transfer on the TFT-bonnet is really beautiful and supersmooth, the pictures don't do it justice at all.
It was the last paintjob that made me start all over again, because suddenly my spraypaint reacted with leftovers from the original Ti-paint.

i was thinking to emphesize the carbon with a black transfer with a carbon-fibre look (a grid).
Around the keyboard and trackpad I want a colorful transfer as well, perhaps from a manga cartoon. It's tempting just to brush the Titanium, but would look too "corporate".
The bottom is just shiny black. I used candle wax to cover the leds on the battery.

Anyway, This is the first modded Tibook in the history of mankind ! It stands out I like it !

Here's my 667 DVI next to the office Dell. The P4 1700 Dell renders the same Cinema 4D scene in 1/3 the time. Both have 512mb SDRAM.

I find the fact that you put a table fan behind your TiBook for additional cooling hillarious.

It's a 667 DVI, and happens to be the first mac I've owned that actually plays carma2 really well. I only need the fan when I'm doing stuff that tends to kick the fan into blowdryer mode, like quake3, carma2, ripping lots of cd's, etc. The fan is Much quieter than the stage2 fan, and keeps the pb cool to the touch. A better solution would be to find a usb powered fan, or if I could find a smaller ac-powered fan.

Well, it's not one of those fancy new Powerbooks, but the following is a computer I put together using a child's play desk, Lego's, and salvaged parts from various PB 5xx. The processor (167 mHz NewerTech upgrade), hard drive, floppy, etc are built into the blue desktop. The keyboard is flush mounted. The screen (PB 540c) is held within a framework of lego's. There is a QuickCam camera on the top of the display (see 2nd pic). Also have flush mounted speakers on either side of the display, with subwoofer under desktop (along with external 9gb disk). Have it networked to the rest of my computers, with access to the internet (only pbskids.org and bigideafun.com). Kids have enjoyed this for 2 years. Still going strong.
