Come on people, stop bragging about your new PB's and show us already. I'd love to see comparisons of the new and older 12" screens, or just shots of the new 12" screen.

Keiretsu, it's a quite valid request. The screens have changed, and the keyboard backlighting is also different now.

The keyboard is much brighter in my opinion, it's great, I use it every night when I am working in bed and my girl is sleeping.

Nothing too special, but it's mine.
12" PB Rev B 1GHZ 1.25 Gigs of Ram
20 Gig Generation 4 Ipod
Microtek 17" Monitor
Altec Lansing Speakers
Silver Dvorak Touchstream LP keyboard/mouse/most amazingly comfortable piece of hardware I've ever used.
Icurve
David Pogue's Missing Manual for Panther - makes a great monitor riser.
I tried to get a shot of my entire workspace, but my desk has grown in fits and starts over the last year and is now a massive, unwieldy beast.

Well, the keyboard is really just two large touchpads, so you type by tapping the "keys" and mouse by using two fingers on the surface. It's done wonders to relieve my carpal tunnel (I'm a writer, so painful typing is a big problem), not to mention that it's just a cool piece of hardware. Takes some time to get used to typing on it though. I decided to try dvorak at the same time that I got the board, so the learning curve was . . . fun.

This machine is amazing (not as amazing as my G5 buuuut). It runs World of Warcraft smooth as silk with full resolution and graphics turned up decently. I am in heaven now that I have a portable mac to lug around when I cant be near my baby (G5). My only complaints thus far is how there is uneven gaps when the thing is shut inbetween the lid and base. And the keys are causing marks on my beautiful screen guess i should invest in a screen protector, just thought that that issue would be fised by now. The battery life is alright (crappy while playing WoW). I just have to turn the screen brightness down a bit and the battery life jumps like by an hour. Besides those small complaints, it's a dream and I just laugh when I see 800 PC laptops scattered in my college union area... poor shmoes... ohhh well, at least all the designers in my cohort design group that I go to all my classes with all have either powerbooks or ibooks... hehe i should get a pic of all of us... there are like 20 of us, and every one besides two people have portable macs...

Nice setup. You might want to check the threads on them, but two things that will help (3 actually): Radtech screensaver, iSkin keyboard protector and the Radtech rubber thingies to help with alignment. I have all 3 on my PB17 and am glad I purchased all three.

Yes, the screens have changed, as I'm sure many people here can back me up on. For the 12" model in particular, screen quality seems to fluctuate with each revision, and many people are waiting on buying a 12" PowerBook until they can see and decide whether the screen quality is up to snuff.

That's your source? There are so many discrepancies there that I don't even know what to think after reading all the posts. I'm still not impressed if one out of 10 screens looks better than the rest. The screens are still the same according to all the Rev C users who see no difference, even in the link you provided.

Look, you and Kereitsu are missing my point. My point is that there is a perfectly good reason to want to see pictures of the new Powerbooks. Now that we have seen the Powerbooks, we do in fact know that there is generally no difference between them and Rev. C. However, we obviously wouldn't know this if we hadn't seen Rev D PowerBooks. We wanted to know if the screens got any better; they haven't. THAT is my point.

I think your missing the point. If you scroll up you will see that I'm one of those that are curious to see pics, to compare the Rev C to Rev D screens. But wanting to see pics, and still seeing nothing to warrant a change from my previous thought (that they haven't changed screens) doesn't make me say that they have changed. I too want to know if they have gotten better, but nothing in all the threads in all the forums here at MacNN has given concrete evidence that they have changed, and gotten better. Till then, I'll stick to my guns and tell everyone I know that the screens are still the same, you could get lucky and get a nice screen, or you could miss out and get a "whatever" screen.

It's the MS Wireless USB mouse. I do like it, it has a bunch of buttons + the wheel scrolls side to side too.

Thanks for that tip. I just downloaded it. It's beautiful!
Only downside is, on my rev B 12" PB, it ramps up the GPU to about 70C/158F which means hard core fan noise.

I believe you can set it to minimize use of vram which might lower the processor use, and the fan noise, not sure though

I saw that too. I tried to minimize VRAM and I reduced the max fps, but no improvement. Oh well, the fish are really nice.

Though there's not much of a need to use screensavers these days. That said, I'm using FreeFall for when I step away from my 17 (have password enable on it) when at the office and take it in.

Rev D. 15" Powerbook 1.5Ghz Combo drive
(Click for gallery)
Got it setup in the living room with Airport Express, very nice. Just need to get another extension cable for the power adapter because the Airport is usng the one from the Powerbook. Threw in a few shots with my Beyerdynamic DT-250 80s 'cause I'm infatuated with them.
This is my first powerbook, its been working flawlessly.
(Check out the case I got for it here.)
