I was searching Peripherals for info on a good wide screen display and came across the 1600SW. It is old but seems that it was ahead of its time and equal in some ways with current displays.

I currently have a 17" Studio Display that I love but want another 17" or 18" to add to it. I would prefer a widescreen model but there don't seem to be very many, especially with more that a vertical resolution of 768.

So, what is the deal of the 1600SW. Is it just out dated and not worth looking at or should I grab one off Ebay. Does it function with OS X and the ATI card that came with the MDD Dual Ghz powermacs? If I bought one, what is required for a pure digital DVI connection?

If not the 1600SW any suggestions, I saw the thread about the 17" widescreen from Samsung but it has only 768 vertical pixels.

Thanks,
Josh

This display will only function with a specific video card- there is ony one that it will work with, so the one that came with your mac is incompatible. I can not remember exactly what specific card it needed, but it had "number 9" in it's name... However it will work if you use this adapter. Not sure how much it costs though... Seems like a bit of a hassle to me
