Are there any apps out there that block the flash popups. I'm not sure if they are really popups or "overlays", so when you scroll down on the affected web page it scrolls with you. Weather.com has this quite often and its a pain.

Does anyone know of this type of blocking software for the peecee also?

Mike

heh... these are a new type of banner ad called fatboys (rollover a portion and they get bigger) -- i helped art direct some earlier this year. AFAIK there isnt a way to remove this type of behavior unless you uninstall Flash player--then you will get flat JPG versions

I hate those fatboy ads. They are mildly annoying on newer, fast systems. But on older, slower systems they are downright painful. I am running a P3-500 (or close to it) and sometimes flash ads like that literally halt my system for 10+ seconds at a time. Not all flash ads do this, just particularly fancy or large ones.

Honestly, how do you sleep at night????

At least on my Windows machine, I've gotten some really bad ones. For example, Fandango (I think) had a Hulk one that shook the window over and over!

PithHelmet rocks. You can block all Flash, or just Flash from ad servers, or whatever you like.

Man, PithHelmet is slow like a tug boat. Go for CSS Adblocking instead.

What are you talking about? Of course you can remove them. Suggestions above all work very nicely.

use firefox with adblock. They don't even load, you can block certain servers and sites, and it provides a nice 'flash' tab where the flash object would be--for those times when you want to play flash.

sweet.
You heard me! Sod off, Sadr!
