I'm considering buying a refurb Cube.
Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) buying refurbished G4/cubes?

Thanks,
Peter

I bought a refurbished Cube in October, 2000, and it has been perfect so far. It only came with a 90 day warranty, but now they may come with a year warranty.

I haven't bought a cube, but I have bought a lot of refurbished hardware. I has always lasted as long as new hardware.

I got my refurb Cube 450 in March, and I've never been happier. Just to be on the safe side, I bought the Applecare 3 year service agreement. Probably won't need it - just a little concerned about heat and motherboard life.

I've read about the heat worries around, but haven't heard of anyone who's actually had problems with it?!
Have you?

I once heard that heat was one of the most common reasons for motherboard failure - however, I haven't heard of specific Cube related heat failure. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened.
I have a control strip extension that reports temperature to me. Right now, it says 123 F, and it usually peaks at 131 F during long downloads. When it gets that hot, I rig up a small fan to provide extra cooling.

Overcautious? Perhaps.
