I've never used an iphone and was wondering how reliable safari browser is. I believe it crashes a lot. Can I use alternate browsers? Also I read apple touch is lower quality than iphone. Is this true?

1) It crashes quite a bit, but it has gotten much better with the latest software update 2.2
2) No alternative browsers possible (at the moment - Apple doesn't allow it)
3) Not true
