My ipad is not connected but there is option to "eject ipad." Does my OS need a re-install because of system file error or...?

Noooo. That's a small software issue. What app is showing that? It is usual for a Mac not to recognize that an iDevice has been disconnected. It's not something I'd worry much at all about though, but I would eject the iPad before disconnecting if I were being cautious.

Is this in iTunes? If so, that only means that you have Wifi synchronization enabled and you can sync by just clicking the sync button in iTunes.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
