The Meijer I used to shop at would occasionally play Talking Heads, Ramones, Roxy Music, etc. The actual bands, not Muzak covers.

I remember hearing Frank Zappa's "Dynamo Hum" as elevator music at a Weiss Market in the late 1980's.

Humour doesn't translate on the interwebs. And yet, I keep trying.

As a Kraftwerk fan, I absolutely adore Señor Coconut's version (which, supposedly, is just the one crazy German, Uwe Schmidt, and his MPC sampler). The whole album - "El Baile Aleman", is just awesome. Not muzak* at all, actually.

Also love that Paul Anka Swing album.

*) We may have different definitions of muzak, obviously.
