so what application do you have that you really hate and don't like, but keep around because you must use it?

mine is internet explorer because nobody else has a (scrapbook) feature like explorer.

what about you?

Microsoft Access.

Don't get me started on how AWFUL Appleworks is. OpenOffice is 2 orders of magnitude better (and I actually use it instead of Word or Excel).

Well, the Windows version actually:

1) Is fast
2) Does not lock up
3) Renders fonts better
4) And did I mention that it is faster?

Haha. No way in hell it will be faster. They said it would have 'new features'. And we know what that means from Microsoft.

Premiere 6.5 I hate the damn thing but all my work has to be turned with really Premiere Pro but they don't make it for Mac. I prefer FCP but the prof wrote the book on Premiere (really) and so we are forced to use it.

I don't know why he won't let us use what ever editing suite we want as long as the final product is good but ohh well.

Does that mean you'll be able to type faster whilst using it? More words per minute? Less tyops?

I could really use a boost in that area. Maybe if I bought a faster computer.

It's friggen word processor/spreadsheet/presentation apps, how fast do these things need to be to keep up with your amazing WPM?

The whole application is very non-responsive. And yes, I do mean that it is not fast enough to keep up with my WPM. It could not keep up on my iBook 700 G3 with 640MBs of RAM. Yet the Windows version runs like butter on my friends Duron 800 with 192MBs of RAM running XP.

I hate IE-but one important website doesn`t work with Safari.

MSN -- to chat with some of my friends (ICQ doesn't work with a webcam)

IE (yak) -- Internet banking, Safari as well as Gecko-derivatives won't work

Sorry for the digression but:
Does the Apple iSite work with MSN's messager? (How about Yahoo?)

I have not bought one because, well, I know NOBODY that's available on AOL or iChat.

Internet Explorer.

My college's registration system *still* doesn't work with Safari, even after numerous emails/bug reports to them.

Wonder what I could do about that...

MSN messenger for me too. The majority of my mates use it, so I kinda have to. Problem is, the OSX version is crap compared to the windows one. Hopefully the next version will have webcam support etc.

Ah well. The life of a mac user whose mates use windows...

heh, definately. it's another world using xsi when compared to LW. it's a tool that you just know has been made for animators, it almost feels as vast as an operating system due to the amount of features and flexibilty.

Rumour is, that SI are considering a Mac port, if that happens, I can move all my production to OS X.

You gotta love the Canadians for making the best animation tools, EVER!!!

Under Mac OS X;
1) RealOne Player
2) Windows Media Player
3) IE (The browser of choice for pogo.com)
4) ICQ (some people decided NOT to switch to AIM, I have Proteus, but seldom fire it up for checking MSN buddies)

Under VPC;
1) IE (integrated to the system, Thanks M$)
2) Office XP suite (again.. more robust than Mac: Office v.X)
3) VisualBasic.Net (for school)
4) COBOL (for school)

AppleWorks... I don't have anything free that does word count and it opens my old apple works docs. Other than that I would trash the app.

Really? I didn't install IE with Panther, and I still haven't missed it at all. Anything that doesn't work with Safari works fine in Firebird.

All I care about is the damn css support in IE and PNG. I don't like having to curve my design to meet the needs of that browser.
