And while it's not much for cornering, my 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon is pretty good at going fast in a straight line.

I have a 1989 ltd edition yellow mx5 (or miata) - it doesn't have much horsepower, but is great fun to drive - even with the top up.

I used to own an elderly yellow MGB (see a pattern here?) but the maintenance regime got too much for me

Well, my insurance company calls its a sports COUPE, but it was designed as a GT. It's not a sports car (it isn't lightweight, spartan, or nimble around town), but someone mentioned 'sportyness' and winter, so I posted, otherwise I would have vacated this thread.

Heh. What's with the best behaviour/politeness?

Yeah, apart from the obvious "GT" contention, you're right. And I gotta agree that Scoobies are pretty good in the white stuff.

I take it "sports" and "sporty" are synonymous in this thread.

98 Cobra. It is up for sale soon, though. White, 60K miles, excellent condition. Any interest? Even comes with Apple sticker.

1986 Porsche 944 Turbo.
Black exterior, beige/tan leather interior. 39K (original!) miles. Top notch condition.

Granted, since I live in Michigan, this is strictly a fair-weather car

edit- oops, originally typed "1996"

Maybe getting the C4 and selling it in 15 years when your children are ready to go to college wouldn't be too bad a plan. It isn't much of an investment now, but it probably wouldn't lose value in that time, only gain.
Yeah C4's can be had at a pretty good price nowadays. Tantrum's C4 is a little unique though...it's got a LT4 in it from a 96 C4 Donor. NICE!! Quite the sleeper!

Here's the breakdown of what engines, it what years...

85-91 Corvette - L98
92-96 Corvette - LT1
96 Corvette - LT4
97-04 Corvette - LS1
05-* Corvette - LS2
90-95 Corvette ZR-1 - LT5
01-04 Corvette Z06 - LS6

Nice. I asked my friend which (common) cars NOT to race if challenged (he's also got an M3...).. his reply was : "mustang cobras, corvettes, or post 00 Porsches". So I asked, "how the hell do I tell a 00 porsche vs a 01 or 02 porsche"?
"well... when you see the 'PORSCHE' across the BACK at the next light... you'll know".
