IGN: Hellboy II: The Golden Army Video 2236469

Just took a look at the trailer and was quite impressed. It looks like Del Toro got really creative with the creatures. They are very similar to those in Pan's Labyrinth.

Heh, the creatures do look Pan's Labyrinth-esque. I guess that movie stimulated his visually creative side. Hopefully it matches up as well on other fronts too. I like del Toro — he's got the nerve to actually make movies the way he thinks they should be made. (I remember at Comic-Con, he said that the studio apparently really thought The Rock should play Hellboy.)

Wouldn't it be weird, if it was the same sh!t with a different good guy?

You must not watch many movies or read many fiction novels then.

You were expecting perhaps a Jane Austen-style period romance?

I even predicted the fish mans hand gesture at the end of the trailer, just like hell boy 1 trailer. At least don't make the damn trailer so similar to Hellboy 1.

Is John Landis working with this film? I noticed on the marquee on the theatre says 'See You Next Wednesday.'

Dude, you never read the books I assume? That's Abe's signature move.

This looks waaayyy better then the 1st movie. I liked the first one but it had that aura of hollywood cheese ala Fantastic Four that threw me off from time to time. This one looks darker and the fx look great - can't wait.

I have to say it looks quite good.

Just came back from watching it. I liked it. The costumes were nothing short of amazing. This time the character relations get a bit more dramatic, but not too much.

I enjoyed it. Not great, but enjoyable. It was stranger than the first, and the other creatures were very Pan's Labyrinth.

I saw it this weekend. My general thoughts:

I thought it was pretty good. The creature designs definitely lived up to the reputation del Toro earned with Pan's Labyrinth. I liked the movie's general lightheartedness mixed with a few heavier moments. Doug Jones was good as Abe Sapien, though his performance is so much like David Hyde Pierce's that I'm stumped as to why they bothered dubbing him over in the last one. I thought the villain guy was a bit generic — any supervillains out there who are not pale dudes with long hair?

At least they change the dumb trailer they had in 2007, which made it look like Hellboy 1.

I didn't even realize there is a new actor playing Abe.

I thought the movie was beautiful to look at, but some of the dialogue felt forced and awkward. To my surprise, George Lucas wasn't credited for the screenplay.

All-in-all, a good time, but I prefer the first one.

It was alright. A little too campy for me, I liked the first one a lot better. I couldn't stand the makeup/voice dub on the kid. I did like the visuals, though. Del Torro is awesome.

The Elf/martial arts thing was tired and boring. This isn't the Matrix, it's Hellboy. The guy has a big fist and a big gun.

There wasn't a single moment this film, a beautiful as it was to watch, surprised me. Disappointing.

I have a question, but it really isn't a Hellboy question.

I watched the 1080p trailer at Apple. What I saw was interlacing artifacts. The damn trailer isn't in 1080p! Neither is the 720p trailer! The 480p trailer looks better, but close examination shows a smoothing algorithm was run on it so there are blurry interlaced frames.

Are any other trailers as messed up as this?
