So for the sake of my quesion i ask 2 things:
1) Leave windows out of this, it's not a free-for-all fight.
2) Be unbiased. We're at a mac forum, try to not cheer up for mac just because you like it.

So my question is: Why do you choose Mac over LInux?
I'm actually doubting if i should change over to Linux, as it seems to be made more for the programmer. (What i like)

I use OS X because it works seamlessly to get all my work done. I don't need to fiddle around with the os underpinnings. If someone wants to, they can just drop into Terminal and work from the the CL.

OS X offers most of the affordances of Linux: there are various packet managers that allow you to use pretty much all of the open source software you can think of. You have direct access to a command line (and I use it every day). And if you plug in a printer via USB, you can just print with zero configuration.

I've used FreeBSD and Linux, but I honestly don't miss anything on OS X.

Other than cost (cheaper hardware) I really don't see any advantage.

Personally, I like Apple's hardware, the quality and design, so I see no reason to go generic hardware + Linux.

Plus, OS X is quite a nice, refined GIU.

One comment about hardware: even if I were using Linux, I don't think my hardware would be much cheaper. I'd probably use a Lenovo or perhaps even a Mac anyway.

Find me a linux OS whose GUI is as gorgeous as that of either 10.9 or 10.10 (pick your flavor), has multi-column folder navigation, allows syncing between my Mac and iPod, and is as fast as OS X... until then I am not considering switching.

The tools I require for work are not available on Linux (I'm a musician/teacher/studio owner).
