Flynn Is Said to Have Talked to Russians About Sanctions Before Trump Took Office

This strikes me as too stupid to be true.
...was not too stupid to be true.

Flynn resigns amid controversy over Russia contacts - CNNPolitics.com
"I inadvertently briefed the Vice President-elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian ambassador. I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology," Flynn wrote according to a copy of his resignation letter obtained by CNN.
"I lied."

Of course, the question is he lied to everyone to just Pence – the administration had has rumors of Russian ties swirling since summer.

On the bright side we have someone with anger issues and a penchant for believing conspiracy theories out of a key position.

Also: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...=.19a784965198
The acting attorney general informed the Trump White House late last month that she believed Michael Flynn had misled senior administration officials about the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States, and warned that the national security adviser was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail, current and former U.S. officials said.
In the waning days of the Obama administration, James R. Clapper Jr., who was the director of national intelligence, and John Brennan, the CIA director at the time, shared Yates’s concerns and concurred with her recommendation to inform the Trump White House. They feared that “Flynn had put himself in a compromising position” and thought that Pence had a right to know that he had been misled, according to one of the officials, who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.
Seems like an appropriate situation for congress to investigate, right?

This guy was fired by Obama. And thrown under the bus by Trump in less than a month. Speaks volumes.

Oh, wow, that's big news. Given the nature of the allegations and the fact that Flynn resigned, this may have major implications.

This isn't helping. I'm actually confused why they'd be so overt.

Spicer is up for the hardest press briefing if his career right? Conventional wisdom says fireworks but conventional wisdom also died in 2016.

GOP Rep. Says Republicans Are Quiet on Flynn Because It’s Valentine’s Day: ‘They’re Having Breakfast With Their Wives’ | Mediaite

This probably explains why all our resident conservatives haven't stopped by yet.

This thread is a lot less interesting if it's a liberal circle jerk.

I have a hard time believing Flynn went rogue and was acting alone, and while I don't want to enter too deeply into the territory of Kremlinology, I have yet to hear a statement by a spokesperson for the Trump administration say that Flynn was acting against the interests of President Trump. That would suggest a rift between Trump and Pence.

24 hours and not a post from our conservative brethren? No, "I'm glad he's gone" or "He sacrificed himself for Trump" – nothing? You have no thoughts or feelings about the issue at all?

Man, even subego didn't stop by to give us a "Down goes Flynn!", let alone some relevant thoughts.

Yes, it's hard to believe he contacted Russia without prompting from above. But finding evidence - that's the rub.

Today I learned I have relevant thoughts.

I was going to make a joke about this being more about letting Pence swing in the wind rather than security, but it actually seems like it's more about that.

There seems to be a rough consensus with what I said in the other thread. Busting a transition team for the Logan Act is really missing the point.

Now, before the election is a different story, and I'm not getting a straight answer on that.

But when you factor in all the other email servers it is transmitted through on its way to its recipient one can't necessarily be so sure.

Agreed. That's why I made clear that this was speculation, and given that the GOP is very reluctant to get to the bottom of this, we may never know.

I heard they wouldn't let him bring in his own team.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Not that he couldn't bring in his own team, but that team needed to include a Trump plant.
