Last I knew they were 384x288; iChat and friends interpolate up to 640x480.

The new Mac Book Pro's are 1.3 mega pixels. The older ones were half that I think.

Source? And no, I don't mean the watered down 'tech specs.'

I could spend time looking for my source, but honestly I'm too busy. You'll either have to believe me or not. Personally doesn't matter to me. I just contributed what I know.

Apple must not be proud of its built-in isight camera. I found this for the Macbook when using iChat somewhere but couldn’t find it again.

Video resolution (in pixels)
Good 160-by-120
Better 320-by-240
Best 640-by-480

I found this for the MacBook Pro

Built-in iSight

Apple also uses the "iSight" name to brand its built-in video camera component found in all MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook computers as well as iMac desktop computers produced in or after late 2005, although it is not the same device as the external iSight. While similar devices, the built-in iSight uses an internal USB 2.0 interface, not the FireWire 400 (IEEE 1394a) method used by the external iSight camera. Further, the built-in iSight has a plastic lens, is fixed-focus, and uses a CMOS Active pixel sensor, rather than the CCD used in the external iSight. With the LED-Backlit MacBook Pros, Apple has moved to using a sensor capable of 1280x960, but when accessed using provided APIs, the image is re-sampled to 640x480.

iSight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Does that mean .3 Megapixels for both the MB and MBP?
