hvx200 looks sorta like a plastic one
AG-HSC1U don't know much about it but is it better than the HDC SD9/HS9?
HDC-SD9 looks nice small
HDC-HS9 looks nice small

It's nice that they're 3-CCD camcorders, but I prefer miniDV for recording type. They're pretty new so it may take a while for sites to get review up.

if you want to use iMovie HD or want to burn DVDs, stay away from the card or HDD based cameras. I shot some test footage using a Pany HD camera at BB. iMovie HD coud not do anything with it. iMovie '08 recognized the SD card as a camera. There is not on option to export to iDVD from iMovie 08. I would look into a mini DV camera myself.

it does support the new codec. I can always use fcp. I have fcp. Out of the 4 which do you think is the best bang for the buck.

I go here to check out reviews... Camcorders - Independent Camcorder Reviews, Ratings & Comparisons . There are a couple others out there too. Just make sure your editing software supports your camcorder.

What's your budget?

What are you going to use it for?

What's your other gear that goes with it? Do you already have good sound gear? A good tripod?

I'm asking for the total budget here. Don't blow everything on the camera alone.

The new Sony Cine-Alta is also great. But the storage media is, like the hvx-200's P2, very expensive. Don't underestimate the cost of accessories. They will cost you more than the camcorder.

By the way, the hvx-200 is not plastic, but a great piece of equipment. But I consider it slightly outdated with uprezzing CCDs and that SD tape mechanism. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an update in the works.

New panny came out and red low budget was shown at DAB. I have final cut pro I should have a macbookpro soon. I have a powerbook for now. 500gigs of external storage. I don't have a good tripod and sound I don't really have. I lost my shotgun mic somewhere. Cost me 400 bucks few years ago. I will have to re buy one.

AG-HMC150 is the new panny that just was shown.
